Stuck in Alicante airport thanks to selfish bar steward French ATC workers. The frequency with which they strike should be the subject if national French shame and the French government shoukd foot the bill for ALL the disruption caused.

Just been told flight is cancelled. Next availability is in 2 weeks!  I kid you not!!!

Sack all those bar stewards and take over French airspace as they do not deserve to be part of the european ATC network.

Livid am I!

Yes. That's the consolation. 5 star Melia Alicante in the marina with Volvo Ocean race here just now too.

Got a flight back sorted for saturday evening. Just a 5 hour drive to Malaga! Then flight to Gatwick. 5 hour drive to Liverpool to drop off my mother and pickup the car, then 5 hour drive back to Scotland. What a bloody mess. Thank you France. About time we stripped you of your ATC rights and service. A total disgrace and farce.

Well have to say easyjet certainly came up trumps.

Put up till Saturday in the very grand Melia Alicante hotel. Marina and casino on one side, lovely beach on the other. Two lovely large Executive rooms one with marina view and balconey the other with sea view and balconey. All paid for and arranged by easyjet for 4 nights.

Not bad when I only paid £55 return for each of the 4 flights. Very impressed to be honest and will now be even more of a fan!

Shame about the 5 hour drive on Saturday to Malaga in easyjet paid for hire car. Then late flight back to Gatwick. Easyjet paying for two rooms Saturday night at Gatwick then hire car to get me back to Liverpool, via a 5 hour drive,  to drop my mother off and pick up my car, again paid for by easyjet. Then just another 5 hour drive home :)

All in all whilst not perfect fairly painless really. Imagine the grief if I'd have been flying with Ryanshitair!

View from balconey.

@C8RKH Andy, if you're in need of something to keep you occupied whilst you're stuck there, we've got an old 'renovation project' about 30 minutes inland from your location that's needing its first-fix plumbing installed.....................:lol:.

Andy, currently sat in Munich airport waiting for an update as to when/ if our plane to Southampton will arrive.  If the outbound flight last night is anything to go by, it'll not be quick.

Business travel is nowhere near as glam as people think/ make it out to be.

Agreed. One of the many benefits of retirement is that I don't have to get onto a plane unless I want to. And I generally don't.

Lol. Sorry @Alfa2Evora but managed to find gainful eimployment as a tester. So far, assignments completed include:

1. Testing the temperature of the sea

2. Testing the height of the waves

3. Testing the effectiveness of sunscreen in 30c pure blue sky weather

4. Testing the temperature of cold beer - took me several attempts to get that right

5. Testing the sweetness of a mojto - again took me several attempts to master.

No time ot energy for plumbibg. This testing lark is bloody tiring.

As for business travel, and work travel in general, I agree, no fun anymore at all.  Over 90 business flights a year, all in cattle class and approaching 175+ nights a year in hotels. Then I wonder why I look like Mr. Blobby!  Hahaha...

Carina's father has dementia and most of the time does not know what house or even country he is in (he has been legally declared incompetent so Carina is having to manage everything) but this has not stopped a lady friend from bullying him into letting her have £5,000.00 to go towards her new car. Obviously the allowance she demanded so she would visit him is no longer enough! - We found out this last night when she sent a text to Carina stating he had volunteered £5000.00 to go towards her new car so we needed to get the money to her! This was after we we told by a friend Carina's father was moaning that this woman was just after his money. FFS he has dementia!

The problem is he has addiction issues (alcohol and her).

This is really causing us stress and has been affecting our health for some time. Unfortunately he insisted (when he was compos mentis) that he was going to live 300 miles from us and was telling people he expected Carina to give up everything and go and look after him (he never was a particularly nice man, he was an alcoholic and incredibly selfish) when he needed it.

I just cannot believe how nasty, selfish and evil people can be. She has well off children but no she has to bully a person with Dementia into giving her money! and she will make his life even more hell if she doesn't get it - pure evil!

She is pure scum. As Barry says too many people like this.

I would suggest you contact the police as soubds like a form of extortion / blackmail to me and maybe a visit from a friendly bobby might knock her into her sendes.

Sorry to hear about the stress and really do hope you get this sorted.

Never ceases to amaze me how much scum there is in todays society.

We have decided to refer this to the family solicitor for advice (who is aware of her ways as we had to take advice when that bloody woman tried to marry him - at the time he thought he was in New Zealand and was worried where he had put his aeroplane and fleet of Mercedes!).

Carina has full power of attorney but the problem is she will make his life even more of a hell than it already is if she doesn't get her way.

We really could do without this.

Additional note - she has just rung moaning that Carina does not answer her texts, fortunately Carina was taking the dogs for a walk.

The fact that my British made lucus wired lotus that I forgot to install the plug boot back on started and ran today with only a rough idle and sluggush go but yet it ran way way better than my OTHER... Car made in Germany by the brand I trust the most... My Audi 3.2 chain driven grandfather clock car has to be the second worst car I have ever had.

Just BTW: I have put thousands and thousands of miles on many other audis its just this car!!!

Roberto, this graphic tells you all you need to know and is the latest version of the JDPower results.  It is a complete fallacy that German cars are better made than others and yet every year people are compelled to hand over thousands extra for these "brands" in the belief they are buying a premium quality product. They are not, they are buying into a brand! They are buying into a carefully cultivated brand and image that is designed to take the maximum amount of wonga and cash from your wallet. But then, we can all choose to buy what we want with the money we earn. However, i cannot help but conjure up a mental of image of a fool dressed in a clowns outfit dancing around a maypole when someone tells me proudly they have just bought an Audi!  :harhar:

The next car I buy for the missus is likely to be a Skoda, and, looking where Volvo are it bodes well for Lotus in the medium term if we start to raid the parts bucket. As an aside,  my 1 year old 1.2 Clio diesel airport/station car shares something with my Evora. The 20 year old control unit for the electric windows is identical to that in the Clio. Well, if it ain't broke and all that!.......

Well audi used to be actually good until they decided to play with the oil system the stupif F****... I mean it sprays oil out of the cam adjuster solenoid because I took it off and they use some special crimp you would need to look very carefully before removal to notice. Then the whole going back to chain drive and putting it to the rear of the engine.... It kind of sealed me off from wanting anything they make that is new. Its .ike the good engineers died. Audi came from a horror show and looks like it will end that way... Now my 90's cars were freaking great. I eather put half a million miles on the trannys and killed them that way or sold em or that one time I erm... crashed... through lots of stuff...

But used to be good... the car was supposed to last a few years... But the lotus was partially bought because that car sucked so bad :D

Disgraceful.

You might even have to wash it, now.

I did!  For once I'm gonna thank the bitch for doing me a favour.  The BBC film crew outside say it looks lovely.

Took the Evora for her final run before a winter lay-up. I really didn't want it to end, which is probably why I left the house at 9am to take a quick turn through to Glasgow for the monthly Tartan Tarmac breakfast meet and didn't arrive home until 7 hours and 200 miles later.

She's 7 years old now and nudging 60k miles so there are a few things needing 'fettled' to get her back to better than showroom condition. Hopefully when she re-emerges in the Spring, all the stonechips on the front clam and along her flanks will have been dealt with, the peeling headlamp lacquer will have been rectified along with the handful of dead LEDs in both front sidelights, the interior Oyster leather will have been refreshed, the alloys will have been restored to their previously high-gloss black finish (destroyed by the application of an expensive and highly recommended fallout remover which also removed the surface finish - see pic below, ), I'll finally have gotten around to having the Motorsport GT4 rear wing that I acquired 18 months ago painted and fitted, and last but by no means least, I'll also have decided which WinAce front and rear bumpers to get after more than a year of procrastination and will have had them painted and fitted as well.

So a busy few months ahead, but not being able to take her out for a blast is going to be agony.
