sadly my job which i loved has turned over the years into 70% paperwork and dealing with utter incompetent unaccountable  council jobs worth..

paperwork aside

as an example dealing with a conservation officer 24 years old, degree in architecture, a 1 year add  on to make her heritage consultant specialist.

born in belgium, moved to uk at 18. so basically 6 years education,  2 month in to the employment world,

thinks a 12.5 mm British Gypsum  plasterboard (invented in the 1930's)  and studwork wall is original in an 18th century listed building, so recommended a refusal on an application because of such..

to make matters worse her "team leader" response. was take it to appeal weve not got time to look at it again under this application!!!

very helpful that..

Should have quietly ripped it out and place it in the skip.

unless it’s catagorically on the listing - don’t for one minute think they have carte Blanche to screw you over - they haven’t (grade 1 and grade 2* slightly different)

the owner has a legal right to be able to use and enjoy the property

another 8 weeks ..of time and client money..

I'd take them to court. They have a duty of professional care re the standard to which they operate.

But then I can also understand why many clients would not go there.

Our Dog (1 year old) dislocated his hips on a slippery floor a while back and now needs an operation. £5000. Our other dog is 18 now, mostly blind and as she has started to lose her marbles a little. Vets today for both. ☹️

Not a good start to the bank holiday - spent last night at A&E then spent this morning prepping the V8 for it's first day out of the year only to find it hasn't had an MOT since July last year , only discovered as I tried to tax the car  - Car  now back in garage

Another one of those First World problems where if this is what makes me unhappy, then I don’t have much to complain about. But still, a bit of thinking to do in the next few weeks.

As is not uncommon, I took a good tumble playing hockey this morning. The problem is that this time, try as I might, I couldn’t keep my head from bouncing off the ice. Not a severe blow but enough for me to recognize mild concussion symptoms after a couple of minutes. Not that big a deal in and of itself but this is the second time in the past two weeks and the third time in fourteen months that I’ve had my bell rung. Perhaps there really is some truth in the old saw that old men shouldn’t play young men’s games.

I’m going to take a five week hiatus from playing – skip the next three games and them I’m off to the UK for three weeks anyway. Then will come the decision of whether to go back to the game or not.

It might be easier if I were any bloody good at it, but I’m not. I used to comment that I skate with all the grace and beauty of a half-trained circus bear, but the bear heard it and was offended. I’m just good enough to enjoy the game with a bunch of old crocks even if I know that some of them are only going at half speed, e.g. my defense partner this morning played a year or so of professional hockey in his youth. Still, playing regularly has become a major part of my routine and I am loathe to quit even if I am a bit worried about cumulative damage to my noggin. A First World problem indeed.

Sounds ideal, and of course it's great for fitness. I've not put a pair of ice skates on for years, I must give it a go again sometime soon.

Look on the bright side, Dan.

How much does it cost them to run every year for a few days use?

So back home after 8 months in temporary accommodation. Long story short, the removals van turned up today and dropped off 90 containers/boxes of our stuff and we find many things that should have been restored have not been, stuff is missing ( including my two wedding rings - well the first one was kinda just a quick trial run...), and generally yes we are back in but just swamped with stuff and no place to move.

Would not have been too bad if the bastard contractors had not lied their way into convincing everyone they would be finished on time and despite an extended deadline of several weeks, twice, they have still managed to fook things up to the extent that 50% of the total work done needs to be re-done including the complete sanding and refinishing of our Oak stairs as they have done such a shit job and we have spent thousands putting new carpets down!   Argh!!!!   Fooking contractors, the whole lot should get a black and decker 10mm masonry bit drilled through from ear to ear!  (obviously children please do not try this at home on your local friendly odd jobber!).

But I guess at least I am back home.

We have a pool :) but ours is indoors in our conservatory so can use it even if it's raining. They don't cost as much as you think to run - ours is heated to 31.5degreesC using an air source heat pump.

Trying to have a nice family get-together on Monday afternoon, splashing around in my garden swimming pool, not really bothering anyone. My pervy neighbour was craning his neck to see what was going on, the bloke's a bloody menace, and no doubt jealous as hell. Thankfully, the 15' high holly bush did its job and screened us off.

Ian you could be right as it doesn’t matter how many times I move myself to Bickley on the members map I always end up back in Margate! Going to get a drone for next time so be warned
