gear change translator bearings

Hi all . How do I get the gear change translator bearings out.?I've tried knocking the inner race of one against the spacer "pipe"onto the other race -supported with clearance-but there was little movement.Is the correct/only method?

Upgrade today to remove Google ads and support TLF.

Put it in the oven for 20 minutes, in theory the alloy casting will expand more than the bearing and it will fall out !

From memory the inside of the translator is stepped, so you need to push each race out the short way. As Roger said heat will help, but then push the right way. I supported mine then put a small bar in and tapped the inner race of the lower bearing.

Hi, inner spacer on mine was rusted on to the shaft, screw the nut on to protect threads and be brave with a hard tap from a mallet, regards mk1
