Ball joint dust cover - Suspension/Brakes/Wheels/Hubs/Steering/Geo - The Lotus Forums Jump to content

I'm sure somebody posted quite some time ago about a compatible dust cover for the lower ball joint on the Stevens / late G car suspension. I've tried searching but not found it, anybody know what vehicle it was? I seem to think it was a Fiesta.

I'm just after a couple to replace some that have perished but the ball joints are fine, so I'm not keen to spend silly amounts of money on ball joints when it's only a couple of £5 pieces of rubber I want.

Well, maybe it was but I'm not going into any shop and asking for some approx 1 1'2 inches long.

There is precipitation at the moment else i could go an unlock the spares shed and attempt to gain access to a spare lower front link and measure it.

Possibly these?

Must tidy shed, must tidy shed.

Right, after 30-45 ins of searching I found a lower suspension arm and have now measured the ball joint.

Diameter of tapered section, where dust cover needs to sit= 17.5mm, so ideally a tight fit to that perhaps as small as 16mm would be easy to fit.

Larger end of dust cap, 34mm where it sits in the groove, with the ridge of the ball joint being 39mm for the clips to secure against.

I'd say these ones should fit.
