Mr_John111 11 Report post Posted August 6, 2010 Perry, The water pumps on these cars deteriorate when not used so if you need a pump to replace the one on your car better to get a reconditioned (exchange) one from one of the specialists SJ's, PNM etc etc. I understand that the coolant acts as a lubricant for a seal/pump interface and if air gets in then the ally corrodes and then grinds the seal. If your pump is beyond reconditioning then by all means get one that has been 'lying around' but get it reconditioned before fitting. My biggest regret when I had the engine out was NOT swapping the waterpump. Would have been 5 simple bolts an a 5 min job. In situe it was a good few hours and grazed knuckles. So you really don't want to fit one in situe and then have to replace it when it fails. John Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
