hi i was driving my 350 yesterday and the wiper suddenly seemed to stop working, i got out of the car and had a quick look there is a nut which seemed to be a bit loose so i thought i have tried tighting the nut but it seems ut doesnt want ot go any further. the bit where the nut goes into the body seems to be moving around which it shouldnt be. Funny thing is if you lift the wiper off the windscreen it works perfectly fine as soon as you put it down it wont go up and down. anyone have any idea's a new wiper arm form lotus is

Sounds like the splines on either the wiper motor linkage and/or the wiper arm have been damaged. Once you take the pressure off the arm it will work. However if the splines are damaged, the shaft is most probably rotating within the wiper arm, when in situ, hence no movement. Worse scenario is that you may need a new wiper motor linkage as well

Remove the arm and have a look at the wiper linkage spindle that it mounts onto. You should be ablt too see a series of raised parallel lines that engage with the wiper arm spigot. The shaft is alluminium I believe. If it is smooth, then its knackered. No amount of tightening up the nut will resolve the problem I believe.
