Hi Simon

Did it a few years ago. Fantastic trip in a wonderful location will go again sometime. We decided to stay away from Milan and chose to stay at Desenzano del Garda on Lake Garda. The hotel we stayed at overlooked the lake and was very close to the motorway which took us to Monza in under an hour. Flew to the old Roman town of Verona (which is a nice place to visit) from Gatwick then hired a car for the weekend. The hotel was about 20 mins from the airport. The lake location was idyllic and a great place to return to each evening.

We stayed Thursday to Monday which gave us time for a bit of sightseeing and on the Monday we where even able to hire a speed boat just in front of the hotel.

The most expensive part of the trip was the GP entrance and grandstand tickets which came to about half the cost each!!

If you want more detail just post up

I went years ago on a Page & Moy trip and had a great time. Hotel overlooking Lake Como, coached into qually, race, back in the evening to wander and nosh at our own pace...wine.gif

We had seats at the first chicane, great atmosphere, I'd probably go for start finish though as I just love watching the start! Up there with Monaco as the best GP experience I've ever had, excellent facilities ( even the loos! ), nice fresh ciabata rolls with parma ham and overall a really special place. Enjoy!!!animier.gif

If Ferrari is not winning be sure not to be wearing the colours of whoever is.

funny but not true, when we where there the Tifosi where fantastic. They very strongly supported Ferrari yes and some left early when they weren't winning but the friendly rivalry between every one there was fantastic because we were all lovers of motor sport and it showed.

Hi Simon :)

I was at Monza last year, the trip was just amazing and I love to go back to Italy, just fall in love in that country.

Best place on track is Tribuna Ascari, excellent place to watch. We flew also to Malpensa and stayed weekend on Milan (took the cab from there to Monza). If you have some more time to spend, then rent a car and make a trip to Maranello ;) (Lamborghini and Ferrari museums).

Here are some photos from my trip to Italy:

Great photos, Jussi, as always.

It was interesting to see the difference between the Ferrari and Lamborghini museums. The Ferrari seemed to have a lot more visitors, a lot more room, more regimented and nearly all the cars were red. The Lamborghini museum looked more organic, like a garage with a lot of cars in, all different colours, ar different angles to each other and no real organization or visitors. For me, the Ferrari museum looked too glossy while Lamborghini's looked cozy and friendlier. The need to cut the grass, though.

Thanks Nigel and Trevor :)

Trevor you are right, the Lamborghini museum has a heart.....the Ferrari museum has a cash register  There was some story on my old blog, but the main point was, we got personal presentation on Lamborghini museum (we were the only visitors), it was an experience I will remember my whole life :)

Nephew of Ferruccio Lamborghini was our guide on Lamborghini museum. He came just for us to the museum on saturday evening, that's what I call service :)

The nephew of Ferruccio himself came in specially on a Saturday night to show you around the museum? That's incredible. Looks like being owned by VW has not torn the heart out of the company. Was he expecting you to buy a couple of Murcielagos or does he do that for anyone who has the good taste to drive a Giugiaro Esprit?

I contacted museum with email before we get to Italy. Then we phoned him from Milan and agreed the time. I think he knew already that we have no money to buy Murcielago

He even asked how many Lamborghinis we have in Finland...ehh. only few (I know one Murcielago and couple Gallardos).

Like you said, it was incredible. Even my friends were touched by Lamborghini and they aren't "car people" :) I think it's good idea to give an email before you head to Italy, I'm sure you get excellent experience.....don't forget to say hi from Jussi :B)

Here's the address for the museum: Lamborghini museo: Via Statale 342, 44040 Dosso (Ferrara)
