Iconic Ride 267
Michael, I think he was referring to the Kimchi drive thru lane over by the vendor area. As near as I can tell it didn't affect too many of the local fans, but several foreign visitors had to make a mad dash for the loo. Quote Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose. Bibs 11,165
He was quiet some distance back from Button I thought so I'm not sure if it would have made a difference. What was with Button by the way, shocking race! He's driven in the wet before hasn't he? Kimbers 1,781
Are all the drivers now a bunch of pussies? They have raced in much worse conditions over the years, or is it that they are more like millionaires playing at racing rather than real racers? Theres something to be said for removing the plank to stop them aquaplaning and increasing ride height before we become like the American open wheel racing where they stop the race as soon as it rains, or postpone it to a dry day. And was it just me or did anyone else think Webber should have braked rather than reversing across the track? Or do you think he did it on purpose hoping to collect one of his rivals? ramjet 1,086
But if he wanted to get his biggest rival, he would have needed to be in front of Vettel wouldn't he? ads_green 12
The track surface was brand new and soaking wet - a very bad combination. I think people were extra cautious of this which I think is sensible. I noticed that about webber - wheels turning however... I think the initial impact was survivable and didn't seem to wreck the car. So he looks lie he was trying to get the car back and ona wet road the only way to do that is to keep the wheels turning. If he had applied the brakes the wheels would easily have locked and then aquaplaned. Not saying he was right - just possible explanations.

comem47 229
interesting, I noticed what appears to be a map of the course glued inside the cockpit. Never noticed that before. Maybe it's a stewards thing (having passed inspection)? Anyone?
Iconic Ride 267
It's always a good idea to have a map when you go to a foreign country so you don't get lost, Bob. Just kidding. I've also noticed these ciruit depictions in other cockpit photos at other locations. I believe they show (among other things) course-specific turn numbers so that the driver and the pit team can avoid confusion in the heat of battle, though you have to wonder just how much time the driver can spend looking down at it at speed. Or it just may be some arcane FIA rules requirement having to do with some esoteric historical usage. Would be interesting to know. Quote Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose. Al. 294
It also shows by use of colour sectors for the timing if you notice. Still doesn't explain it unless it is the FIA scrutineering ticket. Every car that races in any class of racing even down to club roots level has to checked over for a number of things prior to racing, like safety features or maybe allowable modifications etc. etc. Cars are then issued with scrutineering tickets. At local club level If a car is involved in an incident during practice then usually the scruitineer will have a look over it to check say the fire extinguisher wasn't fired off or a cracked structural member or whatever. If he then removes the ticket the car can take no further part on the track until represented to be scruitneered and ticket reissued. Quote A LEGS man and proud to declare it! USAndretti42 308
The map stuck inside the cockpit is a common feature on road courses to, like Al said, aid communication between the driver and his engineer when discussing what the car is doing in various corners or sections of the track. John was asking where does the driver put his feet. I have read the driving position described as being like sitting in a small bath with you feet up by the taps. In the September issue of Car magazine there is a picture of Michael Schumacher sat in a normal chair put adopting the position he has to take up in a car. Great pictures, JK. Looks like you had a good time. I was very impressed that Korea managed to get the track ready to race on in time. Very impressive.
