Removing the butterfly "rod"and floater in chamber.

So in the end I used a spray degreaser and re-greased them and they were good as new.

I realise I'm resurrecting an old thread here but I wondered what type of grease you used to re-grease your carb spindle bearings?

I need to check mine out carefully for smoothness and I see from the Des Hammill book that it's possible to clean out and re-grease them like you did. Just don't want to remove the carbs until I know I've got everything I need on hand.

Thanks.

Hmm... Just got home and read the book. Mr Hammill he say 'silicon grease or any other grease not affected by gasoline'.

Although he also says 'wash out the old grease with gasoline' ??

Is LM grease petrol proof? I didn't think it was...

Thanks Buddsy. Looks like I need to get some silicone grease then!

Just when you think you're ready to start...

Luckily the current Mrs H wants to go to the shops today so at least I'll have an opportunity to call in somewhere and get some
