V8 Code Readers

Hi all,

Iam looking for a birthday present for myself next week and was looking at a code reader for my V8 that I've seen on LEW. I don't know which one to go for?

I have a laptop so I could go for the cheapest version. What's the advantage of the more expensive ones apart from having it's own display?

Can owners who have bought this type of software please let me know their experiences. Also if there's anything available elsewhere would be useful too!

This place http://www.obd-2.com has a neat scanner (even reads and resets the ABS computer). Site is pretty hard to navigate but aparently the're pretty helpful if you call or email them etc

Hi Dave

I bought the Digimoto software with the mOByDic interface - that's pretty good. Software works well, and the interface will connect to pretty much any of the post 96 ECUs as it supports the three main interface protocols

OBD interface arrived yesterday - hooked it up and everything works fine.

Doesn't fit the boot connector as it is fouled by the battery mount.

Fitted it fine to the under dash connector on the passenger seat.

Will be looking to develop some software for it specifically for the Esprit V8 as I have tried all the free software and whilst they do work and show the details - they are very generic.

I want some software that simply logs data whilst the car is running which I can then analyse later.

Hello! you can use interface and software from the page: "obd-2.de" [maybe "Vehicle-Erkunder] it's in origin a american made program. works well in my own 1998 GT B)
