Hi Justin, Brian & I have already started talking about this off Forum. We are both intending to be at the Club Lotus meeting in Bo`ness on the 12th Jan and were hoping to maybe come up with an outline plan like we did last year with a number of regional hits then let people join one or more. There was a core who at least tried to do all from the Central belt.

Anybody and eveybody welcome to attend. You do not need to be a Club Lotus member and it is a relaxed bar atmosphere exclusive use and good car park.

We will be very happy for any suggestions like yours or anybody else that wishes to chip in then go ahed in this thread. Even suggested routes are wecome this early and do not have to be as fancy as Brian`s Google Maps ones which are awesome

As part of that we are also hoping to have a weekend break next year as well but have more or less decided for selfish reasons we will decide what we want to do oursleves and if others decide to join us and our wives then fine. If not, also equally fine as to be honest we do not expect many to attend. We appreciate that what we are likely to choose may not suit all wallets or tastes and it will be as much about fine wine and dining, as driving. That is likely to be up the west coast around the Oban/ Fort William way from our initial discussions.

Don`t let our planning stop anybody else suggesting and arrange something maybe more widely appealing and in some where different. We will probably also attend as well! The only reason we are doing these planned outings is to try and get some interest going working on the principal if we don`t then nobody else was this last 2 years. Everybody is free to suggest and plan anything and maybe different formats?

At a personal level my job is all over the place at present and I am likely to be moving on soon and so will have mixed up rotas for a while. If you can PM, or e-mail me your schedule for the year, then I will have that as reference. Don`t you have a big day this next year to consider as well??

Count me in for anything from April onwards

Just want to make sure everything is OK first but as a thought, how about putting on a display at the anual car show at the Alford Transport Museum near Aberdeen?

They also have days from time to time where they open the track to raise money for the museum and charities and take people out on the track for a couple of laps.

Thas usualy a mixed marque event but if we got 10 or so cars together then i am sure we could do a pure Lotus event.

Just a thought as but i may be looking to raise a bit of money for a charity in 2011 anyway but more of that later

Definitely hoping to make at least one run (if not more) next year,

I think that Applecross is a little bit optimistic in one day however somewhere like Oban is very easily achievable from the central belt. There is a great seafood shack beside the ferry terminal that has excellent food which makes it an ideal excuse for a day run.

Also on a food theme - no reason we could not perform an impromtu Anstruther Fish & Chip run one evening when it is a little bit lighter.

Cheers

George

Ps Jelous that you guys know where you are next year. I usually get sent there/everywhere at a moments notice

As Al. has already mentioned we are starting the planning soon and will let everyone know asap what our thoughts are.

As always suggestions are always welcome as are TLF members at the monthly Club Lotus meeting at the Bo'ness Motor Museum.

I quite fancy the Applecross run but it is not really possible for a day trip.

Oban seafood shack great!

The Alford Transport Museum would be a great venue to put on a show. Gordon, do you have a contact there. I know we talked about a visit there to do the charity day but alas your enforced break from driving put paid to that. If we could organise something up there and take Bibs up on his offer of the show gear we could put on a great display.

Last year the plan was to have 4 outings, one south, one northeast, one in the west and one central. That way with such a large area to cover and over 50 TLF members there was at least 1 run available to most people. I PM every member in the scottish section for every run and I think the best attended outing was the run to Tomintoul where we had 9 cars.

We are spoilt for great roads up here and I am sure others will have some great suggestions to make. The routes we designed last year were doen in such a way that people could join up en route and head off home when the route allowed them to peel off, and we will try and design routes that wat this year as well.

Jason, What's wrong with the Anstruther Fish Bar? I often have a run out there on a lovely summer evening for fish n' chips and afterwards have a blast around the East Neuk.

Lets have some more suggestions for organised runs.

Or just post impromptu runs and see who turns up.

I'll send up some our of display equipment if you like for the show?

Bibs

That would be great if we can get something organised.

Count me in too guys; keen to get involved.

It also sounds like Jason is volunteering to organised a fish and chip run which will batter (sorry :getmecoat: ) Anstruther.

You appear with the tedious inevitability of an unwelcome season.

I have done quite a few events at the Alford Transport Museum now and although it’s small in comparison to many motor museums, it is kind of quaint and it does have a little figure of 8 track.

I usually do a couple of “Featured Car” days during the school holidays each year where people who have come to the museum get the opportunity to have a couple of laps round the track in your “Featured Car”.

That’s to encourage extra people to visit the museum and raise more funds to support it.

They also have the main event of the year called Motorvation or this year Speedfest.

As I say, that’s a major event and if we could get space for say 10 cars for that it would be great but its absolutely packed in the show ground so I will have to see what I can do on that.

The curator of the museum gets in touch with me regarding the featured car days and Motorvation / Speedfest and I did tentatively mention the possibility of us doing something of Lotus flavour before.

I will get in touch with him and discuss possibilities.

All for £1.20 too? :huh::P

Ha! Can you even get a poke of chips for that nowadays?

On a side note, I've got a couple of questions about the factory which I was wondering if you could answer.. Would rather PM you.

Guys, we seem to have strayed onto another thread hijack here with a intense discussion on the various merits of deep fried heart attack establishments. Whilst very amusing, and perhaps even educational they are not answering the initial tread call!

Where do people want to go for a drive this year?

We are meeting on the 12th at Bo'ness at the Club Lotus evening and it would be good to lay down some very basic markers then of a timetable and locations. gathering.gif

Were the majority happy last year with the 4 different runs in different areas or should we focus more in a given area? What drives do you know that we plan on, or even just what stretches of roads that are good to drive that can you suggest? - Even if no dates yet, or even if you are not intending to come out. Let us know your secret test routes for us to appreciate them. We all have them!

All and any suggestions gratefully received. Not saying we will listen and act on all, but gratefully received! thumbsup.gif

Can you give me details of the meeting tonight as I may just be able to pop along. In the mean time I will have a hunt around to see if I can find out where it is.

Cheers

George

Found it: Bo-ness Motor Museum (EH51 9JR)

So will try and pop along tonight around 8pm (presume I have got the time right?)

Cheers

George

Hi George,

Yes you have it correctly. It is very informal and I will be there hopefully about 19:30 to 19:45. In the summer months we generally stand around in the car park bull$hitting about our toys but tonight will be up the stairs in the bar! Don't look for my car but a black Nissan Murano as we are still in deep snow and low cloud today as well in Dunblane.

Look forward to meeting you then.

Cheers,

Allan
