how much run out on wheels

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I have a spare set 3-piece compomotive esprit wheels (early s3t/essex style) they seem to be very weak (thin alu) how much run-out is allowed? I have about 2mm on the outside rim.

and how do I seal the wheels on the inside, the o-rings seem to be gone long time ago...

thanks

HI Rick,

You can speak to compomotive and they can supply you with the rubber O rings, Also they supply the rim bolts, nuts etc. I have a couple of sets of the essex rims and found that some had been sealed with a rubber sealant, sort of silicone but thicker  Not sure about your run out maybe worth talking to a split rim renovation specialist as im sure them can repair them. 2mm is not much though are you sure its not just on the lip itself, they have probably been bashed with mallets in the past to seperate them!

Well worth repairing if its needed though as they are as rare as hens teeth now, Lots of people after them for the early cars s2 esprits etc,

Good luck with the wheels and keep us posted

Hi Danny thanks for the information, I bought them for my banks-62 but bought 5-spoke revolutions instead so they are just taking up room, however because the 62 is still not finished I am looking for an early s3n/a as a cruiser so maybe I can use them on the s3. but they do need a good clean....

OMG :censored: Rick,

Your replica looks stunning........Did you purchase the kit and graft it on to a europa shell or buy the shell complete. I love the look of these cars, there was a replica a while ago in a performance car magazine it was silver with a V8! They look so much better than a gt40 to me

Wheres your build thread on this it needs one!

Regards danny
