I used to see XJ220's fairly often as my Mum lives near Browns Lane and alot of the unsold LHD cars were stored there and frequently had their 'legs stretched'.

There is a Silver one still local that tootles about now and then.....its their length that still amazes............

Nice pic Graham. Agree does look good in that color (almost azure blue)

I've always thought for such a pretty pretty car, the alloys could have been nicer. Might be such a minor point, but let's the whole look down slightly imo.

...and they're children Roger, smaller than normal people so make the car look bigger...

Or maybe the car is close and they are far away!!!

Close................................Far away

Close................................Far away

The XJ220 around Warwickshire is normally at Supercar Sunday at Gaydon. The guy doesn't just pootle it like you expect either, I've seen it at full tilt down the B4100 and it is a seriously quick car!!

Also saw one in a ditch outside Balsall common once. It had been serviced at Jag and the test driver had been a little too enthusiastic!!!

I had a tuned sport 190 on the a3 (50 zone in guildford) when I stumbled on a xj220. Kept together through to the national speed limit and I floored it in 2nd... got ooo about 3 maybe 4 feet before the turbos kicked in and the car just dissappeared.

A while ago now, OK a long time ago, I watched a Lotus Elan racing an E type at Crystal Palace, and thinking why does the E type need to be that big, when a little 4 cylinder modified Ford engine can keep up with it and beat it in the corners. (circa 1962)

these alloys?

and maybe the engine too!

Yep and a V12 Boat anchour in the back, anyone whom has driven a XJ15 will tell you that it has crap handling due to the weight of the huge V12 Engine in the back a V6 Turbo is so much lighter and aids the XJ220 as having fantastic handling and a great Nberg Pace ande press praised handling way above anything that came before

Only comments I've heard bad about the xj220 (size not included) is brakes made out of balsa wood.

I've a half hearted pet project to build a replica but with modern tech under the shell. No interest in buying an original really rather have one to my spec that I don't mind driving.
