Breather hose

Recommended Posts

OK, so in investigating the breather hose in my car, I find that on the passenger side, a 'T' junction splits the hose in two. One crosses the car to link with the opposite side, whilst the other also crosses the car to go down as a drain, presumably.

So, why does the drain tube bother to cross the car at all? If its to avoid the fuel pump and its electrics, why not split it on the drivers side and drain straight down?

Seems like 1.5 meters of wasted pipe set to rot and vent.

Answers?

That's exactly what mine was like, I removed the extra length of hose and moved the T connector to the other side. On later cars that's how it was done anyway. I don't know why the went there and back again ?

I read somewhere that it does this for a reason - somethink like balancing. I redid mine exactly as Lotus intended although you could probably fget away with changing it.
