1994-2004 Fog Light Project - Interior/Exterior/Lights/Glass/Alarms/ICE/HVAC - The Lotus Forums #ForTheOwners Jump to content

So I've been trying to think of how to upgrade the 94-04 fog lights with out doing body work.

This is not very well thought out or anything yet, but my ideas is to replace the inner working of the assembly with something like this: Hella AUX Micro Xenon

The major problem would be replacing the factory lens with, presumably, glass or perspex. Unfortunately, I cant find anybody that does that kind of thing.

Anyway.... that's all I got. Thoughts and recommendations are most welcome.

I was planning on doing it to my Acura RSX headlights since I can't see anything out of them...

I planned to buy new blacked out housings on ebay

TSX or FX35 projector lenses and housings (with reflector)

and then the 4300k D2S bulbs and 35 or 55 W ballasts.

Here is a bunch of info on how people do it...

if you don't want to ruin your, you could buy more Saab 9000 Aero fog lamps and mod those

I took mine apart a while ago and retro fitted a small array of leds instead of the 55w bulb. I also butchered a pair of old Elise rear lamps to provide reflectors. I did this purely for asthetics, there's no optical benefit - it just looks purretty! The glass can be removed by gently warming the glue/grey goo which holds it to the plastic housing. Take your time doing this.

You may or may not like the results:

GKP,

I know you did the fog lamp modification for aesthetics, but I am wondering how function are the LEDs? Does it provide as much light or more then the old halogens?

Looks great and per Karmavore if you can have a shot of the front from a distance or 2. Say one at 3 metres and one shot at 10 metres? They will more like daytime running lights which is something I have thinking of on mine. There are guys out there who installed running lights just to the side of the foglights. But I kinda like this idea........besides where I live there will be one fog in a year and only for a couple of hours at best so foglights are not an important factor for us.

Cheers
