snuffy
I see we are having a huge amount of discussion about the new Esprit. So, my question is : Who's actually serious about getting their money out and buying one then ? Quote Right then, said Fred.
Paul C
Not me About to move house. I guess i could have moved back in with folks, cashed in 12 year equity and bought a new Esprit/Diablo?, but you gotta have a bit of life too sadly. We got some members with orders in. But due to the fact they have seen more of the car than joe public, and that secrecy in that respect is an issue, i doubt they will comment on this thread for a bit. Feffman
I was talking to my wife about this very subject over the weekend. She thinks if the car is as nice as the rumors, with stellar performance it would be OK with her to jump into a new one. Maybe the Lotus techs will be trained on the new Esprit (in the USA they are almost no Lotus dealers with techs trained to service an Esprit) so I'm not forced to do all my own work. WayneB
Just opened my wallet, and a giant moth flew out Before committing to spending such a huge (to me) ammount of money on a car, it would really have to check all the boxes, I would also have to drive the thing and get some feedback on how its fairing in the real world. Im not willing to use my hard earnt to be a Guinea Pig (even for Lotus) Unless they are willing to offer me one for free to evaluate! ukrocketcar
Who's actually serious ... and buying one then ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi, the new Esprit S1 in 1975 , was a terrible exciting car! the dream of the F1 team Lotus cars becoming a real one to drive on the road. The Legend was there but only 30 years later the dream became a dreaming and reliability car to drive ... The S4.... and S2+S3+SE using new components are now, in good hands reliable I think. the new Espeed must be immediatly at a top Level of quality and more reliable than the others german or italian to be bought, the price could be the more down as possible at a level than the others can't never go. High price for an Espeed is wrong because the customers will choose italian or german to proove they have money not a Lotus . The time of dream is far from 2007. But to be the more desirable sport car of the world record (for a sport car of course ) sales is possible in that way I think and a great deal for Lotus. And in that way it could be possible to buy one. Lotus Esprit 2 : lighter car to hit 200 mph for the light price. Vulcan Grey
From the very very small amount of answers to my question I think I can conclude it's all pub talk then. I bought my 89SE in 2000. I think I saved $68,000 off the sticker price... I can wait 10years to pick up the New (used) Esprit. I'm pretty patient. B) By then I'll probably have an Elise or Exige too. And I'll still have my 89 Esprit SE, I think. Does that mean I am allowed to have an opinion on whether I like it or not? Lotus may not care whether I like it or not, since I won't be buying new... esprithk
if they produce a "spyder" version. I will consider to buy one... I really want to see LOTUS producing a convertible Esprit **but then again...a used Diablo Roadster costs less...and it's V12 Edited July 3, 2006 by esprithk
slade
**but then again...a used Diablo Roadster costs less...and it's V12 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> the diablo roadster always looked too wonky to me with the top up (probably why I can't find any pictures of it with the top up ) If the versatile vehicle architecture is anywhere near as versatile as the name suggests, I'm sure there'll be a roadster available. Hey, they're already gonna make automatic versions apparently slade Quote "It's called a fire hydrant. LW Elise
I see we are having a huge amount of discussion about the new Esprit. So, my question is : Who's actually serious about getting their money out and buying one then ? Count me in, price dependent. It needs to come in for under 100K in US Dollars here in Calfornia, USA. My preference is for a Japanese engine and drive train, probably because the one in my Elise works. So color me serious.
