Dashboard software upgrade

Recommended Posts

When my car was in for it's service a few weeks ago, a guy from Lotus was there upgrading the dash software so he did mine.

Not sure what difference this made... just that I had to reset my clock, and now the Alpine is blue and not red...

Does anyone know what the upgrade was for? The dealer didn't seem to know.

I have had a very bad flat spot between 1200 and 1500 revs in first gear when using the accelerator lightly and my car is in for service right now and the software update is being done. I understand the flat spot is a known problem with some cars hence the software update.

Brian,

I've just had this same 1st gear issue. It's a huge hole in the throttle map which only appeared at the weekend. Thankfully the car is off to MMC tomorrow, and they'll have it for 10 days. All being well it'll be fixed when I get it back.

It seems to be something else every week just now, however it they are all known problems, which I guess is reassuring that it's not just me that's jinxed.

That is the easy bit to resolve as that is just a selection on the Alpine in the settings. I have done it a few times now so if you are stuck I can help with that at least. :secret:

Mine is going in to MMC when I am away this next time for more TLC. The same gearbox / linkage cables noise as Brian had and whine over the speakers that is generated by engine revs if radio, CD or i-pod is on. Oh yes and a service and more. I wonder if I will be offered or given the same software change as usually they do any software upgrades outstanding when the cars are in each time. Something else to keep Craig on his toes.

I must have looked through every setting in there, and I'm sure I changed it before... it's like some of the options are no longer there!

i wonder if it's been reset to the original software version, I had updated it to version 2 (or whatever the latest one was in November)

Well not sure what my version is but I do have one of the newer style head units in the car just in case that makes any difference.

I have just been out and checked I can still do it after your comment and initially was baffled until I found out you have to have the handbrake on! As I leave the car in garage with it off generally but in gear this did take some cursing before identified. I had already switched engine back off in case that was it, so can't now say if you have to be engine off or not - but I was during this process.

In the general radio or i-pod screens there are 3 buttons on screen top left for Source/Visual/Setup.

Select Setup

Then Display setup

Then tab down on the left arrows down one row until Base Colour is seen.

Select the colour scheme there.

Good luck!

I have just got my car back from 18,000 mile service and the software upgrade to Version G has been carried out and the flat spot has been ironed out. I also think the car is a bit more responsive on the throttle.

Antony, is it the clock on the dashboard or the clock on the Sat Nav you are having trouble with or changing the colour back to Red?

The clock on the SatNav is set by the RDS signal from the radio but if you want to set that manually you have to set the RDS Clock to OFF in Settings, Source, Radio, RDS Clock.

You will then be able to adjust the clock manually in the General Settings tab.

As for the dashboard clock that's a different matter and I don't have the car manual here to refer to but it has something to do with the position of the key in the ignition and pressing buttons on the end of the indicators stalk I think.

Brian,

I think I passed you on the M9 yesterday afternoon heading east? I was in the Evora heading west, first time I have seen another Evora on the road since I got mine!

Thanks Brian, I worked out the dash clock.

It's the colour on the Sat Nav that I cant work out.. I'm sure I changed it before so it would match the dash, but the options don't seem to be there anymore!

If it was about 4:30pm it would have been me but I didn't see you. Must have had my eyes closed!!!

I did see an Exige in the morning as I was heading to Stirling after picking my car up from MMC.

And that's just local driving since November due to weather and caring for my elderly parents which meant staying local or I would have been about 22k.

  • 3 weeks later...

To pick this up again, like brian, I've also had the software upgrade, and firstly the flat spot has gone, but the throttle response is enhanced, and much more responsive on a light throttle.

A big  from me, and thanks again to Craig, Calum and the team for sorting out a couple of niggles at the same time.

Excellent news, as Craig e-mailed me to say I have had it done as well as he has the car for a few niggles and a service. Looking forward to experiencing it as I regularly semi embarassed myself on pulling away from junctions on low throttle openings. I get it back a few days before the drive on the 17th. (I am offshore presently so I don`t lose the car when I am home this way)

I have also had a new windscreen under warranty as well as it started to crack from top left and it wasn`t a stone chip. Seems a first for the Evora. Lucky ol` me eh?

I`ll post another issue difficult to pin down in the Alpine trail.

Your car was spotted on Monday by an SE'r near The Gyle so they must have been out "testing" it :innocent::whistle:.

Taking my Esprit over today for MOT so I can get it back on the road in time for the LEGS Breakfast Club meeting this Sunday.

Fingers crossed it passes. xxxxxx

These are crossed fingers by the way not to be mistaken for any term of endearment!!

Remembertopull the handbrake. The settings menu only comes up fully when the car is parked.

See my post #6 in this thread. All the steps are there including the handbrake which got me initially.

Good luck.

It is only a ECU reprogramme H or something. I am sure Craig will be happy to hear from you about it.

Makes the fly by wire throttle system more sensitive to lower throttle settings basically and a few other tweaks. There are only so many measurment points on the throttle map so by spreading out the lower ones it makes it easier to drive and pull away but higher throttle settings most of us tend to be full or nothing I suppose so less important.

I know some people only need 2 buttons (Accellerator on full or brakes on full :scared: ) but the Evora isn`t that sort of car.

C U 17th?
