I'd be keen to know myself m8 - Derk Bell aside - has any race prep firms tried to rebuilt the UN-1 with uprated internals for higher power tuning/reliability..?

Has anyone tried to convert it to straight cut gears or a full out dog box..?

It's alive.. alive!!!..

o yes. there is someone else other than the most talked about gearbox person that is the mutts nuts with the UN1 since the late 70's/early 80's

search GTO engineering. get some Williams designed, Quaife manufactured stuff. 6 speed dog box in the four speed case, with reverse in the crappy weak old 5th end. genius.

Hi All,

we do this (from time to time). We replace the gears if necessary use new bearings and also new synchros if necessary. Some gearboxes also get the one-piece shaft and the limited slip differential (ATB-type) from Quaife if the customer likes to have these upgrades.

If you have the workshop manuals and if you know gearboxes its a quite straight forward job. The UN1 is nothing special/exotic. Just keep an eye on the specs and preloads.

Cheers

Hi All

Now I finshed rebild it and the last weekend I was working hard to swap out/in gearbox !

Unfortunatlly when I took old gear box out from the car the Cluch Shift was losed, (lost spring pin ???) I have to moved back a lot to free the gearbox !
