Guy Munday 76
What does anybody know about these guitars and has anybody else got one? As far as I can see on the internet, its a bit of a mongrel. Its half USA and half Mexican made, despite saying USA on the headstock and, visually it looks like a Stratocaster. Last time Ben at Fleetcroft Guitars had a look, he thought it played reasonably badly but that may just have been due to my neglect over the years and a bit of attention may make it better. Ben can have a better look at it when I'm next in Godalming but it may be a lost cause.! The Prodigy was only made for a couple of years and was then dropped. I don't think it will ever be a classic. Ben Fleetcroft 0
Now, 'lost cause' would not have been the words that I would have used precisely. On the plus side, the guitar is reasonably rare given the limited numbers that were produced (mainly due to a short production run). It may well be the case however, that this was not Fender's finest hour. But, having said that, any guitar can be resurrected in to something that plays well and sounds good. The only question being as to whether or not the money would be better spent going towards another guitar. Guy, this may well be the case with the dear Prodigy. Do bring it in next time you are passing and we can reassess.
