nigeninja 60
I had a recon box fitted a few months ago,all seemed fine and ive done around 400miles but its now jumped out of 5th twice this has happened,it only does this if im going along at 70ish and then boot it. It may well have been like this since fitted but as its only been out a few times I dont really know. Any suggestion/help would be good please
rogerch 63
I'd be checking out the translator adjustment before ripping the gearbox out. 5th is the most "extreme" movement, so make sure it's got enough movement to go all the way in (she said) So put it in 5th, climb underneath, and see if the translator will move further forward, if it does, the cables are likely a bit slack. Welcome to some adjustment entertainment. That was what inspired me to cut the boot floor in half, If you do adjust it try to keep it one turn on the ball joint at a time to keep track of your adjustment, and if no other selector issues, adjust both the same amount. Sparky knows more than I do. Edited May 21, 2011 by Roger the Dodger Quote Life is like a sewer, what you get out of it, depends on what you put into it. Vulcan Grey 251
Cables need to be constrained the same way, or else you'll need to re-adjust after constraining the cables differently. For instance, if you zip-tie the cables to the chassis slightly differently, it may make their travel different than before. Could also be that the 5th gear ball detent or spring is missing...
