karluk29
hi ppl just a quick question, when the car get warm (usually the outside temp not car temp) it doesnt change gears very well. the last time it did it was the worse as the biting point was on the floor and it would only just crunch into first to get home. we bled the clutch and there was air in it, which helped a little but i was told its common because the clutch pipe is plastic and expands in the heat, therefore letting in air. would getting a braided pipe help or am i waisting my money? i noticed SJ did one for £38 iirc for a V8 so not sure it will fit the GT3 anyone else had this issue thanx in advice Edited June 21, 2011 by karluk29 Quote OUR CURRENT COLLECITON :- MODIFIED LOTUS ESPRIT, FULL VEILSIDE SUPRA (BEAST 409.3bhp), NEW ADDITON TO THE TROOP, 1996 S CLASS MERC (FULLY PIMPED OUT, DUB EDITION)
Gold FFM Sparky Posted June 21, 2011 Gold FFM Report Share Posted June 21, 2011 Yup - fit a braided pipe, then make absolutely sure all air is bled. This may mean removing the slave cylinder from its mount to ensure no pockets at the top. It'll make a world of difference! karluk29
Hi Thanx for the reply. Have you fitted a SJ one to your GT3? Simon350S
If you've got air in it you've got seals gone somewhere. The tube does swell a little under pressure and extreme heat but it most definately won't be letting air in. If your running your original slave you'd be wise to look at replacing/refurbing it at the same time Quote Chunky Lover
karluk29
thanx simon, my garage guy just said the same thing tbh a bloke i know with a GT3 got a braided hose and it didnt fit so he used a land rover slave cylinder. i have contacted SJ to ask if there's fits as its for a V8 it says **steve just said i chose the wrong one lol, seems to be about 4 different types but he put me straight Edited June 22, 2011 by karluk29 Quote OUR CURRENT COLLECITON :- MODIFIED LOTUS ESPRIT, FULL VEILSIDE SUPRA (BEAST 409.3bhp), NEW ADDITON TO THE TROOP, 1996 S CLASS MERC (FULLY PIMPED OUT, DUB EDITION)
Gold FFM Sparky Posted June 22, 2011 Gold FFM Report Share Posted June 22, 2011 I've fitted several, and I find the SJ one pretty good. End fittings can sometimes vary on cylinders, but your local parts emporium should have unions. I keep a few just in case.
