pitstoppete
hi guys, just joined up, got an Excel SE (7 and a half years) and have had an Esprit SE for about three weeks now, and i'm just sorting many little silly problems/doing a bit of servicing etc. just been in the back/underneath for a day and a half, swapping the cam covers back to the right way round, (so i can get some oil in the thing) cleaning up the engine, refitting the turbo heatshield, also sucked all the thin rubbish oil out of the cam carriers (about a litre), drained the rest of the oil, two hours to get the oil filter off (some animal had butchered it on, god that was tight), finally got the oil cooler sandwich plate off too and deattached from the hoses, ready to fit a thermostatic one, only to find the union bodies/hoses are 5/8 bsp, which aint gonna fit my new 1/2 bsp mocal oil stat sandwich plate. (grrrrrrr) dont want to fit 1/2 to 5/8 union body adaptors, so it looks like a swap for a 5/8 tapped oil stat, they must do one. also theres about a litre and a half of cack oil in the hoses/coolers, that doesnt really ever see the light of day on a quicky oil change, so i hope the 8 litres of Castrol RS i bought will go round! more soon, when I've got out of a well deserved bath. pitstoppete
Welcome to the forum, sounds like you've had a busy day <{POST_SNAPBACK}> well, did finally get out of the bath and had a few calming beers after wards. seems Think Automotive only do a 1/2" bsp oilstat, so its down to the local hydraulics shop for some 1/2" to 5/8" bsp union body adaptors, to make the beast live again. at least all the nasty thin black oil is out of the system now.
