Cliff
Dealership says $1.7 million car won't run and maker Mercedes-Benz won't fix it. http://www.cnn.com/2006/AUTOS/06/14/pricey_lemon/index.html I thought that this type of "unreliability" was only credited to Lotus? karmavore
Yeah, but I hear Mercedes' quality is improving... slade
Bit of a tangent... You know, to my eyes mercedes can't do anything without being bland and boring. That thing is one of the most unexciting looking sports cars I've ever seen. I don't know if it's some kind of reverse snobbery or what, it must be subconcious. I honestly can't think of a Benz that actually is desirable to me (maybe the 300SL... MAYBE oh yeah and that rotary engined thing from the 70s). At least these were interesting Anyways, at least Lotus still supports even our old cars apparently... for a price of course Slade Edited June 15, 2006 by slade Quote "It's called a fire hydrant. Evil_Dr_Fish
Slade, I'm with you on that - As much as I know that an SL55 AMG is as fast as anything or the SLR is mechanically awesome etc, I find absolutely NOTHING thatinspires me or excites me in any way shape or form about anything from Mercedes (The closest are the old, chromey 60's/70's drop tops and that's it) For me they make the most underwhelming cars of any manufacturer on earth. I find a mere Peugeot 406 coupe (the last style not the new one) WAAAAY more exciting (they did the right thing and had Italians design it! ) Their small cars all look wrong driven by anyone other than women and hairdressers and their large cars should all be driven by either old men with grey hair or rude bwoys! I remember exactly how I felt the first time I saw an Esprit up close (both G & S car) and there isn't a merc on earth that can even remotely come close! YAWWWWWWN! WayneB
Mercedes-Benz arent my fave manufacturer , but they have made some terrific cars This is one of them B) As I'm an "old man with grey hair" I find myself gravitating towards the CLS55 AMG (in white please), one of the best looking and performing 4 door units in the world IMO Edited June 16, 2006 by WayneB
Evil_Dr_Fish
EW!!! I keep seeing those on the roads and thinking "OMFG That;s one fff-ing ugly car - what on earth is it?!?!? ...OHhhhhhh It's that hideous Mercedes thing!!" I find the rear end of that car vile!!!! slade
Sorry Wayne, not for me. But I think you can pull off the riding around in a giant banana look very well (though someone seemed to have turned this one over...) Slade Quote "It's called a fire hydrant. WayneB
Wheres the Ketchup? Had my photo taken with the Wienermobile once If i can find it , Ill post it. Harry Bradley designed it BTW As for Ugly 4 door cars, the BMW 5 series is up there IMO Edited June 17, 2006 by WayneB
matk
The new 5 series is one of the most sensitive designs to how you spec it. Wayne the photo you've put up is a base spec and it's pig ugly but have you seen the new M5 or any of the "M Sport" spec models. Bigger wheels, lower stance and flared arches makes it look quite good. Regards Mat Kutub 1979 S2 Quote Regards Mat
slade
The 5 series looks like a Pontiac Grand Am Though personally... the 7 series was starting to grow on me, and it pissed me off a bit when they restyled it. I could stand looking at the 5 series for limitted amounts of time... But the new 3 series is the perfect combination of ugly and boring for me to absolutely hate it. I really like the 6 though.
