It's Alive!

Recommended Posts

If anyone is following or interested, my 89 Turbo is now chargecooled and the WC Turbo is installed along with the 2 WC additional injectors which I am now running with an HKS additional Injector controller. I will be tuning the WC 270cc secondary injectors in with the older non SE Ecm. I'll tune up to the boost max of 14.2psi that is set in the ECM, then I'll have John at WC reprogram my Memcal with new boost and timing maps. I'll keep you guys posted on my results. Just wish I had dyno'd the car before I did any mods!

I'd love to post some pics but My global space is almost gone, and the garage is down at the moment. You can check out my project on Cardomain.com(artsespritturbo). I am using WC engineering electric pump wired in to the fuel pump so it's on as soon as the ignition is on. I am running a Greddy Profec A boost controller but am still sorting out the details of getting it running right. The radiator for my chargecooler is the old large Oil cooler flushed and reused. It is fairly inefficient but I am converting the washer squirter with 3 nozzles to squirt water on to the heat exchanger core for more efficiency. I will probably eventually run another exchanger or add a methano/water injection setup to chemically cool the air too.

Yeah, thanks Alan, you inspired the idea! The turbo swap was no sweat actually. The front inner(centerline) nut was a bear to tighten as the center section kind of impedes your functional movement. As I stated above, I used WC engineering's Cc pump. I think I may need to add a methanol/water injection as the CC heat exchanger I'm using isn't big enough to really do a good job. I am keeping my A/C so converting it is out.(it gets too damn hot here in MO 95+ degrees most summer days). I also added 2 of WC's larger secondary injectors with an HKS additional injector controller to add fuel beyond 4K rpm and 8psi. I rough tuned some today but lost an oil line down the street from the house so I shut 'er down and spent the rest of the day cleaning up the mess. The car felt much stronger but it needs much more tuning with wide band to get the A/F right. John at WC also wants me to send him the memcal from my NON SE ECM so he can readjust the timing maps and Boost cut.
