and i am still thinking the S4s will be the best esprit ever, (and i still think because of all GM extra's and ofcourse the powersteering)

The SE     -    MMmmmmm... Clean lines, unspoiled, not like the later Julian models.

Beautifull Wheels from the era when biggest was not best, but design was it.

Rearspoiler that does not gimmick something ugly blue from hokaido Island or thereabout.

Ability to pass over a speedbump, while not being a modern crossover.

Instrumentation from when someone was actually intersted in reading out how the engine is feeling.

Steering luckily without help of some sort, from when a man drove a sportscar, and a woman úsed a red lipstick.

Wide enough to be seen even when it's so low.

Low enough to pass under a paytoll.

Strong fast downsized engine, 25 years ahead of it's time, before it became common.

Fast enough to run from a ferrari testarossa to a hundred or a bit more.

Light enough to keep that same ferrari away from it's taillights on a twisty road.

Rare enough to be a true drivers gem, not a silly collectors queen.

Cheap enough to be bought and driven, not hidden away in a cellar.

beautifull enough to be an automotive ikon for all times.

regards,

jacques

Everything this guy said.

Being on both sides of the aisle here, I'd probably be inclined to agree with you - although I'd say Sport 300 because it has most of the SE bodykit. The 4-cylinder engine is a major blast, but the comfort of the V8 is far superior to the standard SE - I'm assuming things got a little more comfortable with the introduction of the S4 chassis which the S300 and S4s sit on... so putting those two together, 4-pot and V8 comfort = ultimate supercar.

Vanya, I try to eradicate all comfort. Don't need it, don't use it. Sport 300 seats are a step in this direction ;)

I just tried a perfect set of Recaro V8 comfort seats. Waayyyyy to soft and wide for me.

Next is getting some serious suspension with only Little comfort, but perfect roadkeeping ;)

I fullt agree, the Sport300 is the perfect Esprit. But even that can be improved. Since that is made of unobtanium, I'll take the SE any day ;)

Cheers,

jacques

The SE is pretty close to the 300 in some ways, that's what made it my perfect Esprit after the 300 and I owned for for 5 years.

The V8 seats are in-house by the way, not Recaro. The Evora seats are Recaro (for now).

Ah good to know. They certainly look like Recaro from the same era.

Anyway I feelthem too soft and a fair bit wider, so at least for me, they lack support.

I find the lines of the SE more clean and aesthetical. I would say less spoiled and better showing the beautifull lines óf the Esprit from Peter Stevens. The Sport 300 being the ultimate one.

Kind regards,

Jacques,
