Question

Just checked my speedo against those flashy speed display things sprouting like dandelions everywhere - indicated 50 mph = 43 mph on flashy thingy. goodness knows what indicated 90 equals - will pluck up courage (sorry, idiocy) to find out

Standard wheels & tyres (original NCT's) - common problem ?

I would take a trip on the M6 running at a steady speed while timing yourself past several distance markers next to the road. I forget how far apart they are now, but I am sure someone on the forum can remind us. Then you can work out your true speed without relying on displays designed to slow you down.

I wouldn't take much notice of those 'flashy things'. They're supplied by the state so they're bound to overestimate your speed in order to slow you down even more. They'll have a man with a red flag walking in front of our cars soon.

Almost everytime I have prepared to test speed on those "flashy speedy things" they weren't working

Nearest is about 50km. from us and last time it worked was 2years ago :D

Or get yourself a Cyclops GPS camera warning device. They show your speed when not warning you of a camera site, and are much more accurate than your speedo. They were selling them for under

If you have a friend who owns a boat, he probably has a GPS. Most accurate way to test that I know!
