The first section of the EGR pipe on my 2002 V8 is leaking again after changing this about 4 years ago (20K miles approxematley).

Does anyone know of a third part replacement that my be better than the original Lotus part, or what are the consequences if this was blanked off from the manifold.

Thanks in advance

Regards Will

There are blanking plates from the non-EGR cars available for the manifold.

In theory you should remove the EGR valve and blank off that part of the throttle body too.

I have made up a blanking plate and fitted it between the two EGR pipes at the centre join and left all the EGR valve and wiring in place.

Very occasionally (once a year) it does throw a P0401 check light (EGR: insufficient flow).

You wont get this CEL if you remove the EGR valve and wiring.

In the U.S /California we have no choice the EGR must be functional or the car won't pass the readiness tests, and you will get the P0401 error.
