Hi Gentlemen

Can you help with this question? Related to exhaust noise and UK mot requirements

MY 2002 V8 – if the car is set up as follows – standard cats connected to centre exit tailpipes, will the car pass mot with regards to emissions and also will the exhaust volume be ok as there is no silencer in place

Thanks Chris

Can't help you there John. Someone will be along that has a V8 that will be able to answer. We don't get yearly inspections in OZ.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

There's no requirement to test noise on an MOT so you'll pass.

The 5-0 can discuss your cars adherence to the Construction & Use Regulations as the car is meant to be fitted with an exhaust as per the manufacturers specification but in reality you'll be fine :)

Hi Chris.

Just to confirm what Bibs said in that it will be no problem whatsoever.

I have just fitted centre exit pipes (no silencers) and 200 cell sports cats and it passed MOT a few days later.

As a matter of interest the emmission readings were better than last years with the standard cats although I guess it depends on temperature amongst other variables.
