Fire extinguishing system

Recommended Posts

Howdy all,

Planning on installing an AFFF extinguishing system probably from SPA. I'm thinking about using 2 nozzles in the engine bay and one in the cabin probably by drivers feet. I'll have two pulls, one by the trunk release area and one somewhere the driver can get to if the door is closed. I'm very hesitant to use any electrical activation. The only place I've seen others mount the bottle is on the left wheel well arch in the trunk.

Anyone have any installation tips or better ideas.

Thanks

Eric

The Esprit I just purchased from Feffman has one, and it's exactly as you described.. Seems cool to me.. dunno if I will ever use it

Here is the install on my old racer - bottle will likely meed to be updated - it uses a mechancial system which if a bit slower is less complicated and less likely to go wrong.

My project car (Esprit V8) has the extinguisher fitted at the rear of the boot space. It uses an electrical firing mechanism with two triggers - one in the cockpit and one external. The external trigger can be disabled from within the cockpit (for road use). The extinguisher uses two nozzles, both for the engine compartment.

Really really nice install Mike.. I'm sorely tempted to take her off your hands.. but I only have space for 1 Esprit project and buyers for race Esprits can be thin on the ground..

I would be thrilled if the car was sold to an enthusiast on the Forum......

OT - sure would Mike - race her up against Motorsport Elises, Exiges in next year's LOT race series - full support event/weekend, tv coverage etc.

Problem is - could easily be months b4 she sold - look at yours and it's a superb spec - not many buyers in the market for non road legal Esprits these days.. more's the pity... bloody shame but I'm only allowed one Esprit at a time - boss lady says so + couldn't blow my entire budget by buying yours outright.

I wish I had spotted yours for sale at outset..
