Not sure what you are getting at Gunter.

To be clear, this is a model of the Esprit concept revealed at Geneva in 2010. It has no markings on it whatsoever so I can't tell you who or where it was manufactured. It is just one of several scale models of the Esprit concept  that Lotus have been giving displaying/giving away for promotional purposes over the past few years.

I was surprised they had sent Martin (Softlips) a model of an S1. Surely everyone has one of those already.....

I would rather go out to buy a Esprit 'Danny Boy dream' model (as for its rarity in future, so it is a real collectible)  ..than any ordinary 1:18 Autocar model of an RHD'97 V8 Esprit  ..

so are you sure there is no lable under the car (and I mean the car, not the display box )

Well, at least mine is

At the risk of being flamed, are you sure?

This is what I received this morning -

[img=http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm205/hedgerley/IMAG0179.jpg]

Yep, S1 and it's a little one. I already have one of the 'new' Esprits from Paris but that is dark green, never seen a white one

So, a refund and model Esprit were promised and they have just arrived. I was thinking, I have enough model Esprits already but its actually a miniature New Esprit!. Very cool - I hope it doesn't become a collectors item commemorating what 'might have been'.....

And I guess as a sign of the times, the £40 refund cheque is signed by the COO himself!

When I have read the last sentence yesterday I thought you were yoking....the small parcel that have just arrived has the same content and the same person has signed..... :welcome:

To be fair: sending the model is a nice sign - but: 5 months to deal with this topic is a "little" bit too long even if it is not on top of the priority list!

@@@Günter: The model is connected to the black platform, so no sign of origin is visable

That's what I was hinting at Bibs. I've also just noticed that the cheque is dated 6th August! Was cash flow so bad in the summer that they held back sending them out until until now?

Obviously yes. But since DRB have made funds available things are looking better. And now that the Exige S back orders are going out cash flow will improve no end.

Possibly save your life. Check out this website.

The Evora model  is from BBurago. Quality isn't very good though. I painted mine black.

The green Esprit model (which I have on my desk, the one that came on the leather plinth) was made by BBR. Not sure about the white one.

Hmmm.... where's that Evora model from?

As Thomas said above, BBurago, rims and mirrors painted black to match the bigger sister (ok the paint is more liquid blue than frost blue but I can live with that  )

Does the (model!) car come apart easily for painting or do you have to mask? Me likey but not found that size yet. :unworthy:

Look under bburago.com. It's is very easy to disassemble, though you have to open a few simple rivets.

..same as I have done with LEFty

If it is a metall-chassis:

drill out the rivets on the underside, just enough to separate it from the body -drill small holes into the rivet-center axis and fit self tapping screws into it later on, for the refit (every model-crafter guy does have them in those sizes..)

If it is a plastic body & chassis:

use the heat soak from an soldering iron placed near to the head of the rivet, or drill the heads of  ..and pull gentle to separate both sections -you can use Epoxy-glue or something like this later on for the refit of the modified body

If it is a body mounted on the chassis plate with screws:

..undo the screws -easy ..right ?  ;)

The green Esprit model (which I have on my desk, the one that came on the leather plinth) was made by BBR.

..strange thing -for a company team that only does it with Ferraris (as it looks from the shop-page ?)

I haven't seen any of those models over here. Even asking in a store that carries a lot of the larger scale models, they said they can't get them. :(

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

you can se on the missing 'details' of the underside (of the allready unknown real car) that it was meant for pure presentation and advertising, not as perfect diecast model car.

the body on the green one is a one-piece concept, with not much detailing too ..

the scale is also not one of the typical collectors scales you see on the high-class scale models

this one indicates for me that *DB* was more on 'making fame' (for Lotus, I hope at least..) -instead of solid finances & real engineering: nice give-aways, for a company without much substance in those days there, two years ago? http://blog.caranddriver.com/paris-2010-best-tchotchke-the-lotus-esprit-collection/ details (especially of the 2010 Esprit model-car on other pictures) show that the fabrication quality of the 1:?? cars was not as god, lots of outruns on the lines and some reshape..hmm..
