philip600
Hi, Myself & family ( Wife & Son ) are off to Florida next month & thought about hiring a Dodge Charger or Ford Mustang. Can anyone offer any advice / recommendations on hire companies who operate from Sanford Airport or advice on either of these cars ? I know most companies won't guarantee your choice but just wondered if it's worth the extra to hire something like this rather than a boring family saloon. Thanks in advance, Phil. Loose Cannon
It's a few years back since we went but there seemed plenty Mustangs and Chargers around as rentals. Sanford is a pretty small airport though so the choice may get snapped up? There are rental places everywhere, you certainly used to be able to change your car midway through the term if you fancy upgrading just calling into a local outlet. Too many kids in our party so it was always a people carrier! Quote In the garage no-one can hear you scream
Moxie
Sorry I can't be of help, but I just did a complete double-take, never having heard of Sanford, Florida, until 10 minutes ago when I checked the outrageous cost of taking Amtrak's Autotrain to LOG32 in October. Enjoy your holiday. If you'd come in late October you could have seen a few hundred Lotuses gathered together next door in Orlando. philip600
Hi, I am a little worried that we book a Mustang & end up with ''or similar'' I know Sanford is quite small so appreciate choice may be limited. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has done it ? Moxie - we are staying in Kissimee area arriving Oct 18th & leave on Nov 1st so may be around, where is the meeting being held as I may try & get over. Phil. Moxie
Hi Phil, Here's some info on LOG 32: http://www.lotuscarclub.org/htmlx/file/LOG%2032%20Forms/_reMarque_032_p16.pdf'>http://www.lotuscarclub.org/htmlx/file/LOG%2032%20Forms/_reMarque_032_p16.pdf http://www.lotuscarclub.org/ (see the pull-down links for LOG 32) Basically it's October 26-29, based out of the Orlando Hilton, with a track day at Sebring. It would be great to have UK representation! - Matt Quote 1983 "Investor's Special Edition" Turbo Esprit (#43/50) | 2012 Evora S
russellbosier
We were in Orlando a couple of weeks ago. Not Sanford, but Alamo at Orlando International just tell you what lanes your category of car is in. Keys are in the doors and take which one you want. They had a couple of chargers in the end lane, but its all first come first served for cars in your class. While you're there I'd recomend the Richard Petty Nascar driving experience. I did the ride along at the Disney Speedway along with my kids. If you've got young ones, the Disney Speedway takes kids from about 6 years old - the only track that does. Also the Vehicle Assembly Building at the space centre is currently open for the first time in about 30 years. Atlantis is in there awaiting preperation for display. philip600
Well, gave up trying to hire a Charger so booked an SUV & see what's there when we arrive. Only a view days to go now & got the LOG meeting in the diary, thinking of seeing if we can make one of the days, maybe Saturday but got airboat ride booked in the morning. Phil.
