Jokke,

Are you saying that  380 is not as quick as a V6 S? I can understand what you are saying if you came from a Komotech 4something but a bog standard V6, surely not....

i stand aghast...

I say that the the V6 cup 1st Gen is as fast on straights as the 380  sport. Moreover I have the proof of it (clear data). A V6 cup rev at 7200 rpm. I am VERY sure that the 6800 rev limit (which means you have to shift at 6500) is the reason why.

So yes even it is lighter (the 380) it is NOT faster. Clear as water.

On Tuesday my dealer will send out all data to Lotus together with my complaint. I have not bought the 380 to have more HP which you can't reach becaue of a lower rpm. The marketing is misleading with reality. Yes it is faster as a standard V6 1st gen on track, but that is ONLY because of downforce and weight. On a normal road I don't think it is much faster however they claim it. Sorry....

The steering and front grip is much nicier, better, even excellent, but what did they do with motor management???? I really don't get the point.

Moreover my old V6 with 45.000km with a lot of track and I can say not as a pussy didn't give any engin trouble at all, it is as fresh as new still.

@Jokke Vlo sorry to hear that ... you are right with your complaint! Cant understand why they limit it at 6800 ... thats certainly not a step forward.

Its good to hear that the larger front tires, suspension, weight and aero at least make it a much better handling car.

I know you probably dont want to get out of waranty right away but you can always go for the EX460 engine upgrade and make this probably the fastest EX460 out there...

Then I have no more warranty, so that's not the goal....... I am curious what Lotus has to say on this "issue" or "discovery"

I don't think it's fair to judge all 380's based on one car. Rev limit definitely looks lower than the car I drove which at least made 6800rpm into a soft cutout meaning it won't cost you time. Hope you car can be improved, please keep us posted with how you get on.

I always thought my warranty is pretty much gone anyway as soon as I drive the car on track regularly? Does anybody know anything about that?

Read note 6 from the Evora service notes:

I imagine that there is the same clause in the Exige notes.

There is - exactly the same. So a trackday (timing not allowed) would not be an issue as long as it is not timed?!?

Yep. Unless maybe, say, an owner repeatedly states on an internet forum that he times each and every run on track... ;)

@Jokke Vlo--Something seems wrong about that 6500 rpm limit??

Nonetheless, your driving is GREAT!

Thanks for sharing.

@Jokke Vlo can you maybe open a new thread on this? I'm pretty interested on what Lotus says about this and I'm struggeling at the moment either to buy a 380 or to upgrade to Ex430 with KT. So these are really useful facts for me.

We can discuss this further in the Lotus exige 380 topic
