I read about that a while ago. As far as I remember the cars diagnostic connector is able to program keys, and on some that can be reached without setting off the alarm.

Our car was found on the driveway with its doors open, the dry cleaning money gone and everything rummaged through on Sunday night. It has two alarms and deadlocks. No sign of forced entry. We assumed we hadn't locked it.

Spoke to the neighbours to let them know, and they had the same occurence - no sign of forced entry and assumed they hadn't locked it (which remains possible). But three cars in 4 houses being left unlocked on the same night is a bit odd.

I suspect a grabber was used.
