Alex Carter
So today started great a big parts order from sj . Cannot understand why they choose to send me three of one type and 1 different disc , so on the phone and they send out a replacement to match the others . Then part way through today's working I get to fitting the discs the rears don't fit at all which I'm told is a computer problem ?? And the fronts I've ad to giggle sand and file to get them on . Rather frustrating ! Got the second head cams in

Gold FFM Mysterae Posted July 14, 2014 Gold FFM Report Share Posted July 14, 2014 Some lovely pictures Alex! Does the engine look that red in person? I like it . Question - when you're finished, are you going to be the first to turn it over or get some one else?! Quote Signature not working...
Alex Carter
Well that's the problem I find when people do it as a job the passion goes if it's a resto you take a lot more care I'd want to re seal and paint everything so it looked new probably wouldn't be cost effective lol Thanks cor yes I'll be the first to turn the key and the engine is really that red it's almost a candy red its darker than rosso red but in sunlight the silver base coat makes the red pop it kinda resembles lip stick if you get what I mean

Chillidoggy
I'm disappointed that the engine stand isn't the same nice sparkly red colour as the cam covers. Really Alex, you must try harder! 1 Quote Margate Exotics.
j900jpw
Hi Alex, Fantastic work!! Maybe a bit of a sore question.... did you tension the timing belts yourself this time round? Just interested as I'm with you on the view if you do it yourself you know its done properly! Alex Carter
It's ok Julian it's not sore anymore I bought some cream . Yes I did the belts myself this time with the help of a friend using the verrell method turning twisting and adjusting manually until we were happy with the results . The sound method is good but recently he has been investigating his Ferrari build and the belts have been off and on of his car he's right on point with it . I was happy with the end product so we'll see how it goes .
Alex Carter
I don't usually do this but this is coming off my chest . I read the other post of similar nature and sure I've had my issues but I didn't want to join in the witch hunt but today f***king p***ed me off . I order parts from various companies as sometimes a specialist is easier than part hunting so for this sj s I am great full but twice now you've sent me out wrong or badly made goods and even lied about stock when I wanted ht leads .My saga with the discs continued today the replacement rear discs arrived today so back on the ramp the car went old discs off and replacements on everything went to plan this time the hubs we milled out to the right mm this time .All cleaned and tightened up . Then found the problem the holes for the bolts didn't line up fantastic these are suppose to be genuine discs . So off everything came again and I had to have the bolt holes milled out to fit .now I have the friends and tooling for this to be done as a favour but the car up and down on the ramp three times the garage time the mechanic time the engineering time all costs all would have fallen down to me and frankly it's a joke I'm not using you for anything else again it's just a fecking joke it seems owning a super car opens the door for shit service ! Rant over At the same time I'd like to thank JAE and southwest for very good service and help at least some companies can see longevity in repeat custom .

top-plumber
You might try PNM Alex. Peter is very helpful and his prices are great. Very nice work, did all the powder coated cam covers and other parts fit straight back togeather or did you need to fettle any areas. Alex Carter
The parts went back together no problem with the powder on .The trick is to find a company that understands the tolerance of an engine part so these guys were extra care full . Unfortunately I did try pnm I bought some bushes at the lotus show in brands when I re worked the suspension I paid out right in cash for everything after he was so confident he had or could get everything of what I wanted . After a very long wait with no communication at all from him I began to chase my parts I'd paid for to be told they would be a little longer . Eventually it needed up in a shity phone call where he tried to make me feel bad because I asked for a refund and it was such a problem! I did get my money back but I won't use them either but thanks for the thought.
