Voted! Daniel Craig :P

Last time I looked Sean Connery was winning (my second choice), Roger Moore was second and Daniel third. Sean I can understand but I always thought Roger looked a bit like all the fighting might be a bit too unpleasant for him. :D

At the risk of being controversial I think any comparison is unfair. The current franchise has had to respond to a slew of hard hitting action films in recent years - the Bourne series, the Batman reboot with Christian Bale and so on. Each Bond has to be put in context, of their time so to speak. By that criteria, it has to be whoever is playing the part right now. But that is not to diminish the contributions of the previous incumbents. They are all as good as each other (except Lazenby. He was a wuss)

A friend of mine was at a showbiz party in Oz and asked one of the other guests what they did for a living. The reply was that he was an actor in films. Naturally the next question was "what films have you been in?" and the reply was "the best known one was On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

Cool replied my friend "what part did you play?"

"James Bond" came the reply.

I have to agree with this: the part that the recent actors have been asked to play seems to be written quite a bit differently than when Connery or Moore were Bond.

I would think it fair to poll who was the best of Connery, Moore and Lazenby, and then who is the best of the "modern era" Bonds: Brosnan, Craig, or Dalton.

Sean Connery's performances categorically defined the role for all time. All others are but pretenders to the throne, though Craig provides a satisfying approximation to the master, with an obvious nod to present day relevance.

Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose.

For me and her indoors it was always Sean Connery that is until Daniel Craig hit the scene. Craig has usurped Connery and rules supreme.

Moore was always too effeminate and full of silly "one liners".

yeah but did only do the one film

He only did the one Bond Film, as his agent assured him that being Bond would set him up for life, and there was no need to do another. In all honesty I like OHMSS. The last few Brosnan films were dire. I like Craig as an actor, but think his Bond could be darker, Bond is nothing more than a Thug for hire. Moore said he played the part more as a comic book creation. But as said they are all products of there time.
