2013 Evora S in the Barn

It's a bit premature, but I can't contain myself. On April 4, 2012 I ordered an Evora S for my 50th birthday (end of August). I was informed today that it has reached the dealer. If all goes well I should be able to pick it up on Saturday.

The Specification:

2013 Evora S

Premium Paint - Velvet Red

Forged Design Wheels - Diamond Cut

Suedetex Premium Package

Suedetex Trim Package

Tech Pack

Backup Camera

Starshield

Battery Maintainer

Special request - Black badge

Special request - Black Calipers

Rest assured when I have pics I will post them.

very nice - congratulations (the black calipers are are very nice detail and fit the color of the car better than red ones would do) Also I Think that velvet red is a good example for the broad range of the colors - the appearance really depends on the sun. Other pictures I saw of velvet red in german car magazine looked like a other color.....(but it was the same..)

I agree on the callipers, I love them on mine, they match the red piping on the seats nicely and there's not such a strong colour on the car to compete with. Out of interest what colour interior did you go for?

THe black calipers are only different in color and I consciously requested them because I think the red ones are too bright to go with the more subdued Velvet Red color. I want my version to be more understated and elegant rather than bright and flashy.

When I chose Velvet Red I was very aware of the difficulty in perceiving the color. The sample at the dealer looked like a bottle of black cherry soda in the flourescent lights of the showroom, but in the bright sunlight and with a compound curve it really came alive with brightness and depth.

I have never seen the color on a car in person so it is a big leap of faith, but I suspect pictures never do it justice. I hoe it will be sunny and bright on Saturday when I pick it up, but the forecast is cloudy so it may take a while to get the right light for good pictures.

Interior is Suedetex. The only color the Suedetex comes in is grey and the non suedetex portion is black leather. I chose it because it will have a subtle two tone in the pattern of the older MY's and the Suedetex feel is really nice. Again it is a leap of faith since I hadn't seen another one when I specified it.

I saw your car on Wednesday in the garage being prepped, its a gorgeous (and unique) color. I was dropping my green Evora S off for service. I might be picking my car up on Saturday, so maybe we'll run into each other.

Congrats!

Be happy to meet up on Sat. One of my Lotus buddies is taking me there and another Evora owner may be meeting us as well. We'll probably be there by noon. I think I mentioned to you on another forum that you should join LotusPALS.ning.com .

Phew, Just got back from picking the car up. It really wasn't that far away but a few of my Lotus buddies met me there to add to the experience and we of course spent a lot of time socializing. Then we stopped for dinner on the way home. And as soon as I got home the wife and boy wanted to go for a ride.

Here is a shot shortly after taking possession taken by one of the buddies. I'm shagged too tired to load my own pics of the day and will take a bunch more tomorrow and upload them then

Now that I have a little rest and tie to go through the pics and resize some of them here is a selection from Delivery Day.

A few notes: Some of my Lotus buddies came to share in the experience. It made the delivery much more fun. The Velvet Red color is very dark and would be more aptly named Black Cherry Wishniak (if your from Philadelphia you get it). Photos do not reflect the depth of the color. The salesman saw it in bright sunlight and said the sunlight completely changes the appearance. Sadly it was a cloudy day. Note Lotus branded Battery Tender package in the boot that comes with the car (they installed the quick connect leads to the battery as part of the pre-delivery prep). The boy loves the car.
