I was parked up next to one of the carbon concept cars a couple of weeks ago, it looked amazing. I gather the extras would've been something like £26k though!

I was told a while back by someone at Lotus that the GTE body shape is slightly different to the Evora so not all of the parts will fit. Would be interesting to know what is practically available for road use on an Evora though out of the GTN kit, GTE parts and the Mansory (and others?) upgrades.

Just a thought, but has anyone had any experience with long term use of exterior carbon fibre body parts? I understand that carbon fibre suffers from UV degredation, and it can start to look tatty over time especially if the UV-resistant lacquer is scratched or picks up chips. Painting it rather than using a clear lacquer helps re. the UV, but I assume most people want the carbon fibre look. A lot of high performance sailing boats use carbon masts and the general rule of thumb is that you should re-lacquer them every few years. Also worth bearing in mind that if you get any serious dings (or worse) it can cause the carbon fibre to splinter or delaminate on the inside of the panel, which makes for an expensive repair.

should answer this question - he made some explanations relating to the differences of GTE / Mansory parts at another place (when I remember right the GTE parts are much more complicated to add....)

Yes, on the GTE, almost every body panels are changed. Front and rear are quite wider, 12cm on the back, I think. So, front and rear fenders are differents, you need new carbon mounts to fit them, it's a huge work. The whole bonnet is also different, roof, tailgate, rear bumper, rear wing, diffuser, side skirts, A-panels. Afterwoods, you need to adapt the chassis with other suspension wishbones (Lotus solution is the best) and wheels with different ET.

All parts are made of carbon by Mansory, and will have an European homologation an German TUV approuved soon. But, to have an idea, if you wish to "build" a GTE-like Evora, I will bet on a £ 30/35K of parts plus fitting. And you don't have the engine and gearbox seen in the GTE.

GTE and Bespoke body kit are different, the Bespoke kit keeps the original wide, front bumper is not so wide than the GTE one.

All parts from the body and cabin are made by Mansory, so everything you see in an Evora GTE, you can have it

I know carbon bits are lighter and tougher, but are there any other benefits? I don't get the whole carbon look, to me carbon bits look awful and the pattern it usually has reminds me of the pattern on my dads company car seat covers back in the 80's. Am I missing something? I know we all have different tastes, but I am bewildered as to why people think carbon bits look good? Is it just me?

They are lighter and look terribly expensive, which they are. I would rather go for the GTE or bespoke panels if they were in glass and spend the saved money on a good diet.

I like the more race car look that's all. There was talk of a Carbon Pack for the Exige S which IMO would've suited the car, but DRB seem to have knocked that one on the head a while back. I could see a well chosen bunch of bits working well the Evora but I reckon it would take a 'Pack' as opposed to a few bits thrown on to do the job well.
