Is that a real photo?  Looks like a CGI / game shot?

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

2 weeks on and the £130,000,000 plane which fell off the £3,000,000,000 ship can't be found as they aren't sure where it is?

I wouldn’t want to be the ground crew who signed that off!…….

The accountants probably told them they'd save fuel or something doing that...

They've found it now, probably just followed the Russians then looked where they are!

Well it did fly off very far on its own. Seems a lot of effort to get back 2 engine intake covers..

I think they were the only bits they had found, floating on the surface, which is why they pretty much knew from the start what had happened.

Reminds me of the preserved Vulcan. They forgot to remove some dehumidifier bags from the engine intakes prior to a flight from Doncaster. The two port side engines were wrecked, but fortunately it hadn’t started its take-off run.

Not sure what health and safety would make of that!

In all seriousness, yes truly amazing feat of bravery and selflessness. Makes some of todays whinging just so trivial

I think all the aircraft survived the Bismarck, the Channel Dash on the other hand.

Channel Dash - The Bravest of the Brave - History of Manston Airfield (manstonhistory.org.uk)

Quote

As part of that operation, slow, aged and fabric covered Fairey Swordfish torpedo bombers of the Fleet Air Arm, would be ordered to attack the ships from the base at RAF Manston. Without the majority of their fighter cover, the airmen knew that their chances of success and survival were slim, but pressed on regardless. All six aircraft were shot to pieces by the intense German defences, including up to date Luftwaffe fighter cover, with only five of the 18 aircrew surviving.

I used to live in a flat overlooking Southend seafront. There used to be an annual two day Bank holiday air show. One year the weather was awful with low cloud and little visibility. The only aircraft that dared to take to the sky was the Swordfish. It made one slow pass early on the Saturday afternoon and that was that. Air show over for another year.
