If he does apply for and is granted citizenship, then, would it still technically be true that he is the first foreigner to have ever run the Bank of England? :whistle:

Having been "in the trade", I wonder how he thinks he might qualify for British Nationality? Residence, possibly...but I don't see anything that qualifies him for nationality. Complicated stuff, that is.....

Interesting that Rachel Lomax, Deputy Governor of the Bank for 5 years 2003-2008, turned down the job. On the other hand she was quoted in a speech on Friday 23rd November `12 as saying bluntly : "where is the revolutionary thinking ?" in relation to economic policy.

According to reports she was dissing the whole anglo-american neo-liberalism thing that has governed economics for the past 30 years, where the very very rich pay academics to agree its a fantastic idea that some people are very very rich (like in the documentary film "Inside Job" 2010).

I wouldn`t want to stereotype Canadians but is Carney`s idea of revolution putting chocolate sauce on a waffle instead of Maple syrup ?
