esprit seat options and possible specialist recommendation

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

My Esprit is currently off the road, as the bolts joining the manifold to the intermediate pipe to the turbo have sheared.  I am trying to work out whether to strip it all out and try drilling the studs out myself or finding a local specialist who is willing to take the job on.  If anyone has any recommendations I'd be grateful, I'm in Glenrothes Fife.

I'd also like to ask opinion on seat options available?

Options:

1. Keep originals as they are very comfy and refurb seat with added bolster for cornering?

2. Change seats to V8 comfy seat?

3. Change seats to race bucket seat like S300?

4. Any other options?

Any advice very welcome, cheers

chris

Hi Chris

A few years ago I used Kingom Performance Cars in Glenrothes for a service and found them to be very good. I went there as I felt I was being ripped off by the service manager at Murray Lotus at that time.

I have since had all my servicing and repairs done at Murray's and the Service Manager Craig Moncrieff is excellent.

I am not sure if you know him or not but if you give him a call and say you are on TLF I am sure he will look after you.

I'd second Brian's recommendation. They have looked after both my Esprit V8's for the past 8 years or so. My first one suffered with several manifold bolts shearing. Murray did an excellent job drilling out and replacing the bolts. Ditto with a couple of manifold to turbo studs.

I have a major service coming up in May and they will be fitting a whole raft of new bits for me, including new turbos and all the ancillary gubbins. As a main dealer you will pay more than an independent but I doubt I would trust anyone else to tbh.

As for seats, I got a quote for a re-furb from the guy Murray use for all their trimming work, including Aston Martin. Unfortunately I can't find their details but I'm sure Murray can advise. I am actually thinking of upgrading mine to the Anniversary spec quilted seats which I like the look of.

I got mine retrimmed by a local long established trimmer £300 per seat, anthracite leather, green stitching and Lotus Logo added. They look v smart in the car. It includes the pad under the seat too, and new foam.
