antiroll bar removal

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will start the suspension strip down.  I changed my anti roll bar bushes last year and remember it being very difficult to replace.  I think maybe i was doing it wrong.  I have an 84 car so earlier suspension.  Can anyone guide me to the best way for ARB removal and refitting.

Which are you planning to use, original (foam type) bushes or poly ones/

I fitted both to an '84 car and found the foam ones an absolute pig to do because you need to compress them in order to get the nut to start on the threaded section of the ARB. The poly ones do not compress as much so are quite close to final fitting position before you are compressing them and so the nuts are much easier to fit.

I also found loosening the ARB to chassis mounts a help, leaving a bolt in each but allowing it to move quite freely. Do not remove both bolts or you have the fun of trying to start the bolt into a captive nut on a plate of steel that's only accessible for a few mm..
