Fibreglass info needed for a repair, polyester vinylester or epoxy resin?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have to repair a crack, and need to know a few things about the fibreglass. Does anyone know if it is polyester vinylester or epoxy resin they used? Also, If the glass is chopped strand matt or woven roving cloth or a mix?

Any other info to help effect a repair would be appreciated.

The crack is near the swaybar/chassis mount point, on the outer side, so needs to be properly done.

thanks, Clive

Issue resolved, Andy from Lotus gave me a couple of people to ask, I spoke to Carl from Specialist Paintwork (+44 1189306206) and said they use a polyester based resin and chopped strand matt, that it was pretty straightforward to work on, just grind away around the crack and layer glass on. Very helpful people.

Thanks for posting Clive - useful reference info that nobody on here seemed to be able to help with.
