Sept28th/29th : Kens Road Run. Over the Sea to Skye, Lotus Style.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys as some of you know from our first meeting of the year Ken London took on the task or organising our annual run which is to go Over the Sea to Skye, Lotus Style.
Ken has now completed the route for the run the only thing Ken is waiting for is confirmation of the hotel costs which are to be on par with last years.

So here is Ken's revised itinary.

Meet at Oldmeldrum (or my house just outside Newmachar) to avoid coming into Aberdeen for John, Wendy, Bill and Colin.

A920 Oldmeldrum to Colpy (10m)
A96 to Huntly (11m) (Scott would you join here rather than earlier?)
A920 to Craigellachie (18m)
A95 to Grantown on Spey (24m)
A95 to Newtonmore (23m)
A86 to Spean Bridge (41m) Meet LEGS guys (also Brian & Isobelle) at the famous Commando monument at Spean Bridge

In comparison for the Southern Scottish Lotus guys, Bo'ness to Spean Bridge is just over 100 miles so fairly comparable regarding a central meeting.

A82 to Invergarry (15m)
A87 to Kyle of Lochalsh (51m)

Stay at Kyle or Balmacara on Saturday night

On Sunday - Tour of Skye (150m)
A87 Kyle to Broadford
A87 Broadford to Sligachan
A863 Sligachan to Carbost (slight detour to Talisker Distillery, maybe?)
A863 Drynoch to Dunegan to Borve
A87 Borve to Uig
A855 Uig to Portree (right round northern tip, passing the famous Storr at Trotternish)
A87 Portree to Kyle of Lochalsh (over the infamous Skye Bridge)

The Southern guys may want to split right before the bridge to return home by the southern ferry route via Mallaig.

For NESCL folk
A87 Kyle of Lochalsh to Loch Cluanie (38m)
A887 Cluanie to Invermoriston (16m)
A82 Invermoriston to Inverness up the west side of Loch Ness (28)
A96 Inverness to Fochabers (46m)
A98 Fochabers to Banff, Macduff for Stuartfield and Mintlaw folk (~30m)
A96 Fochabers to Huntly (19m)
A97 Huntly to Banchory for Scott (~40m)
A96 Huntly to Colpy (10m) (Ken splits for Newmachar here)
A96 Colpy to Northfield, Aberdeen (30m) (Brian & Elaine).

As I said Ken is waiting hotel confirmation but it seems OK and costs should be comparable to Brander Lodge. (bar bills excepted!!!!!)

Obviously Ken requires some indication of how many would like to take part so that he can book/reserve rooms, bearing in mind the tourist trade which we will be competing against for the same rooms so a quick indication would be great.

To date we have four confirmed cars and the info only went out last night so it would be great if we could at least match last years 10 cars.

As the TLF and Scottish Elise's guys were with us last year and we would like to extend an invitation to you all again this year.
