Hi guys.

Took off the wheel liners to adjust a headlight bracket and some of the screws that hold the mud flaps would not budge.

Turns out the bracket that holds them is made from untreated steel and corroded quite bad, thought I should pass the knowledge on so you can check your own cars.

Some of the hose fittings aren't looking too hot either, will speak to my dealer to see if I can get the brackets replaced.

Attached pics.

They must have been plated but it has failed. The hose unions would be a standard item i.e. not made by Lotus so if they have rusted too it looks like there might have been an environmental issue such as...I don't know maybe high humidity from the road water and heat from the brakes? I don't know but its worth getting this info passed on to Lotus so they can make it better for future owners.Maybe those parts need to be hot dip galvanised rather than Zinc plate & passivate or even plastic?

For the age of the car, I would think that much corrosion is unacceptable really.

That's just a bracket Scott not the chassis which is aluminum.

I do agree its unacceptable on a modern car

It's quite unbelievable it doesn't have an option on choice of dictionary.

I get frustrated at the constant insertion of 'z' in place of 's'
