DAV1D
It is still listed on the Lotus website but is it one of the moth-balled cars or is it still being made? I saw what looked like a GTE mule at the factory last week but couldn't get close enough to see what it was.
Bibs
Can you get a pic Buddsy if you see it around? The GTE isn't homologated so I doubt that's a customer car, or a GTE. Snoopy1969
I bet it is a body-kit no real GTE........the only "real" GTE that was delivered belongs to Gerard Lopez I think (as a non homologated example as Bibs mentioned)
Stirling_Villeneuve
Didn't they allegedly have an order for 100 from China a while back? Quote Currently having an illicit affair with another marque, be back in the fold one day...
NedaSay
Well these clients would be pretty disgruntled right now!
Bruss
Didn't they allegedly have an order for 100 from China a while back? They were never delivered. Problems with safety regulations on the bodykit. Some were built but stood at Hethel for quite a while- may still be there.
Stirling_Villeneuve
Woah really? I make that £140m worth of business lost due to a body kit regulation, if it's true WTF are Lotus playing at? Can someone wake them up please? ... or perhaps they're quite happy with their secret master plan for the future of our once great marque? Frimley111R
From other threads the issue with the bodykit is that it wasn't as aerodynamic as it looked and created issues with lift at the front. Also, the 444bhp engine never actually produced that and the higher output engine they did try didn't last long before 'dying'
Bibs
To increase the actual track of the car was causing significant issues too. Stirling_Villeneuve
Pah..... in the good old days Lotus would've put those out and let the punters do the R&D, safe in the knowledge that they've collected £140m along the way! TBD
That is the GTE Race Car, which unfortunately has nochting to do with the road car. The race car doesn't have any of the GTE road car's body parts, it is based on the standard Evora. This is what I meant Buddsy Quote If you have the choice between a Stairway to Heaven and a Highway to Hell don't forget the Nomex®! Captain, Lotus Airways. We fly lower! Mark Blanchard
From my conversation yesterday with a Lotus employee, the GTE will not be for sale and the project has been scrapped. Mark Blanchard
Hi Mel, No discussion on this. As far as he was concerned it was a closed book. I did say it would be nice to have the the Evora facelift similar to the Élan concept and he agreed. Quote Mark www.lotusespritturbo.com
hedgerley
Just to add another twist to the GTE story...... I've been entering the Best of the Best car competition for years and have just done this months - they are still showing the Evora GTE as one of the prizes: http://www.botb.com/WaCWeb.aspx?id=6f2ff667-ad9f-4ee8-9a9e-ef2edb0c146d A real pity of it has been cancelled. I still recall the Top Gear review, one of the best they have done.
