Espritmon Update

Oh I see in the manual that you also documented the mode 1 bytes, now this is quite generous as well!

As for the V8 there is apparently another connector (not an ALDL but a standard(?) OBD) and I read here somewhere that Lotus actually disclosed the protocol. That surprised me because both the ALDL M100 and Esprit have been reversed by the community. Does anyone know if anybody actually asked Lotus about the ALDL protocol? (to the same guys who released them the OBD one? Or maybe it's just the standard OBD bytes that are read?)

---

It looks like a big update, not just something to address random bugs, so ... thank you again for your time! :)

Thanks Derek, and the current version would not have had the automatic identification of the correct memory for the BLM cells for the SE if you and fjmuurling hadn't participated on the testing and the discussion we had.

Cells 16 - 19 are the four idle cells that are used for combinations of park/neutral vs drive and A/C on vs A/C off. As there is no park/neutral switch on the Esprit the 'drive' cells are not used.

Some more info on BLM cells 16 to 19 in addition to the above:

What I can see when using my hardware Esprit emulator, they are only used with TPS=0 (hence the label below the column) and 16 is for RPM below approx 1800. For higher RPM cell number 17 is selected (in the learn mode). A better explanation would follow from an analysis of the actual ECM code, Sailorbob will know the details. I think 18 is for airco on and 19 is still for airco off but to me an unknown combination of RPM/MAP/??

  • 9 months later...

I’m struggling to get this update to work on my laptop running Vista.

I’m using the serial to USB converter supplied by one of our forum members and I’ve had the earlier versions running ok!

But I’m getting a can not open com port error during start up.

my lotus.cfg file looks like this.

mode =0

com=3

baud rate=8192

gpscom=0

gps baudrate=115200

Any thoughts or advice on my stupidity will be much appreciated!

kind Regards

Paul

Are you sure your cable is assigned to the COM 3 port?

You should have a look at the device manager on your computer, is should look like the attached screen capture.

If it's not the same com port number, you may change the number in the lotus.cfg file or change the number in the device manager (if the COM 3 defined in your lotus.cfg file is not already used of course)
