Next project S4 Esprit

Recommended Posts

Just wheeled this one out if the garage ,been in there for over a year(shite weather).

Spent way over a grand on a shed load of bits.Finished the interior over the winter.

Going the whole nine yards on the engine, sports exhaust,Oz six spoke alloys,S4s spoiler, boy do I hate that S4 spoiler(in my opinion looks dreadful at all angles). All the usual suspects to be replaced belts tensioner water pump ect.

Watch this space!!

Nice one Paul. How many Esprits have you owned now mate? - you've had some good ones.

Think that's what I'd go for next time - An S4 and in that color!

Personally I love the S4 spoiler and wouldn't want to change the original lines - although various other Esprit lovers tell me how much they think it is a joke! Looks like a project and a half! I know you've been working on it for nearly a year and it sounds like you've made progress - I guess the incentive is to finish it and make way for the "green goddess?" I wish you success - freed up nuts and bolts and the time to put it all back together.

++++1 to keep the S4 spoiler, makes it look squat and purposeful.

Would be cheaper,do you think it would be better for residual value??

I do like the S4s spoiler though.

Engine bay de-greased.

The S4S spoiler is ace Paul, no doubt about it. I thought about changing mine on a good few occasions. I like it some respects and in others it does not float the old boat. I am torn by the originality and the fact that there are fewer unmolested examples.

My view is, do what ever please's you dude.

Just had a thought while walking the dog.Why is it that you don't see people clambering to fit the S4 spoiler to there Esprits like you do with the S4s/S300 spoiler then??

Bits starting turn up and just bought myself a timing belt tensioner  gauge.

Lots of people watch the X Factor, doesn't mean it's good! I think the S4 spoiler isn't blingy enough for the people who want to mod their cars, the same reason people fit bits and bobs from the V8 to 4 pots.

I suppose there is also not too many of them around. But there are plenty of V8/S4S pretenders out there. Personal choice I guess - I just like the originality. My personal thoughts are the more people who take the decision to ditch the S4 spoiler - the more special my S4 becomes!! So I say - DO IT - DO IT  :bounce:

Out with the old,in with the new.

On taking out the old headlights i now can see a money saving idea. The old lights were so rusty ,somebody had taken the sealed units apart and glued tin foil in them and siliconed  them back together.WOW!!

Paul - where did you source the replacements?   or are they just off the shelf items from a dealer/specialist?

PNM engineering, came with s/s backplates ,no bubls.

The outers are retrofit, the inners need a bit of fettleing.

Easy fit,not sure of costs yet approx £300.00
