COPPER FUEL PIPE - PUMP TO FILTER

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy some parts I need regarding the fuel lines of my car.. at the time I made a big mistake so now I have not the original old ones and I cannot recognize what I need.

I have new carbs lines and I have seen on the SJ site that  now there are available also the tank-to tank- to pump lines, so I just need to know which connectors and thread I need to connect the original copper tube (across the chassis) that goes from pump to fuel filter.

It's just a push in with clamp on the filter side I think, but my SU fuel pump has a threaded In-Out, does anyone can advise me on that?

You can see the copper line in the pic (not my car) marked with red arrows.

Thanks

Giorgio

Hi Giorgio,

I looked at the copper line (that crosses the chassis) on my car (79 Federal S2) which I previously removed for my restoration.  The filter end was cut off and I don't know if it had a threaded fitting or something different to connect to the filter.  However, the fuel pump end looks to be a 1/2" fitting with 18 TPI.  My fuel pump  is an SU that was replaced by the previous owner but it is the correct pump for this car.  Therefore, I think the fitting I noted above is correct.  Hope this helps.

Hi Giorgio,

My esprit didn't have a fuel filter in line.  I have gone ahead and replaced the copper pipe to a braided hose.  Do you think I should cut the braided hose to have an in-line fuel filter installed? My esprit also has the flowlock upgrade system.

Here's a pic of the fuel pipe layout in my car:

As you can see there was no fuel filter installed

Hi Vin,

the fuel filter was a standard fitment so I think your has been removed, I would suggest to fit one.

Also, I've found in my workshop the copper fuel line complete of all the fitment!! so now I can remade the original fuel line from carbs to pump.

I will show you some pics soon.

Thanks Giorgio,

I think I can probably cut the pipe and stick a filter in between ... Shame there is a bolt in fuel filter system as it would make the job much neater
