Esprit S1 actual rising prices

Recommended Posts

I was checking the prices in a famous British magazine for classic cars in 2013 and coincidently i had the 2012 edition of the same magazine to compare. See for yourself the jump for the Esprit S1.

Good to see S2 prices are also on the up - not as much as S1 cars (which I would expect), but because of the S1 prices it might help S2 prices as people look to those as a cheaper alternative (heres hoping anyway!)

If you took the wheels off, you would have to be quite an expert to tell the last S1 from the first S2

I can see the interest in the early gelcoat cars, but expect to see the whole S1/2/2.2 range to take a lift in price, with the early tartan / white cars leading with a significant premium.  I expect the JPS cars to be a bit retro-cool as they now look like a modern F1 car

Those listed prices....are they 'real life' prices?

This book is guaranteed to NOT change your life…but it does mention a Lotus Esprit...

I agree, but if they're only worth half those figures it's still an improvement!

I know that a few have changed hands for £30k but they've had £60k spent on them.

Lotus Esprit [meaning] a 1:1 scale Airfix kit with a propensity to catch fire
