gt3 esprit

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the orange gt3 esprit for sale reg P955 JNU apparently it was the lotus demo car. I have noticed its been for sale for a while and that its missing the decal from one side which makes me think its had some damage up that side at some point. Just looking for any advise before I make a long trip to go see it. cheers guys

From my understanding - Lotus ran out of decals for one side of the GT3 - has anyone else heard that? Don't be put off though. Also don't be taken in by "special" this and "demo" that and "ex-directors car". I think its more rare that there is no story :). Go and see the car - and for that matter a few others - and make your choice.

Have you owned an Esprit before? If not check out a few of the buyers guides - they were invaluable when I first started looking at Esprits. You will also be surprised as to the wide range of quality and prices there are. Some people will charge very little for a great car and others charge a lot for a car that has not been looked after. Have a look through the bills and make sure that you check when the cambelt was last changed. Lotus say it needs changing every 24 months. It certainly should have been changed within the last 3 years.

When I bought my car it was known to be a "good" car - but there were still things that needed doing - and the price reflected that. Make sure that you have a contingency fund also find out where your nearest specialist is. You don't say where you are from but I am sure we can all give you advice on who to go to/speak to.

Can't imagine that sticker story being anywhere near the truth, they're just some cut out vinyl and would have been no bother to make/buy.

The story is still pretty true today, I'm sure they're still available and if not are a cinch to get made up so one missing looks odd to me.

Got a link to the car Mr Blob?

Welcome to TLF Jimi. :welcome:

As Bibs has said, any links to the car you are talking about?

You should also duck over to the Introductions thread and say hi in there.

Have seen this a few times since last year. Was advertised with 3 dealers last year from £14990 - £17000.

I have inspected this car closely as it is for sale near me (and has been the last 3 times). I don't understand why it has not sold as it looks cosmetically OK (considering the use it must have had as a press car) and is not badly priced. The mileage is up a bit but not massive.

There are sheafs of info and recent evidence of spending on important stuff like bearings and belts, so it does make you wonder why no-one has shelled out £15 for a new side stripe....

I took photographs of the V5 for the previous owners in case anyone on here was interested in it and wanted to ring and ask a bit of background info. One recent owner in particular appears form his address to have been seriously wealthy...the story I got told is that he had a small collection of posh/classic cars and sold them all in one lot after a horrific accident with a ride on mower which affected his ability to drive.

If anyone comes up to see the car you are welcome to call in for a chat, and take a look at my car to compare notes if you are not familiar with the model. If you need a chat send a me PM with your landline number :)

PS this is a link to the dealer - I have no idea where they are despite being in a 3 mile radius, the googlemap location shows a farmhouse, so may be trading from home.

hey thanks for the replies/advise/welcomes, I have had a esprit before although that was a while ago and now I am very keen to get back into another one (really missed that car). This orange gt3 and another one that is silver http://www.esprit4sale.co.uk/Sale/UsedCarCentre.html are the ones I am considering can't decide which one to go see first you see my problem is knowing what I am like the first one I go see will be the one I buy (heart rule head style look at the shiny esprit :D) providing of course there is nothing major wrong with it and it has good history. I am in london so I have morland Jones just down the road from me for servicing etc.
